Ron?

Ron?

one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises? Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though r-right
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

I just finished reading the books for the second time. It felt like something to do over the holidays.
I still enjoy them, but I have no desire at all to rewatch the movies.

>I just finished reading the books for the second time.
>tfw I read most of them over ten times when I was a kid
Tried rereading them a while back and I can't stand them, dropped not halfway through the series

Movies make me feel self conscious because i never got my letter when i was of age to be able to go to Hogwarts and now I'm a bitter adult muggle.

Never stop

I don't know about the books, but the movies are shit

After the role of a lifetime, I've been...busy

>inb4 autists say Rupert hasn't been JUSTed

The ministry didn't advise hogwarts on writing letters to muggle borns from roughly the point at which the death eaters witnessed Voldemort's resurrection (late 1994) to the point at which Voldemort was defeated (late 1997). So you could well be an untrained wizard who was never invited to hogwarts because the ministry was racist against muggle borns.

>>a-at least the books were good though r-right
>"No!"

>rupert-grint

I did the exact opposite. Re watched all the movies.

Considering re-reading the books to see how they compare and contrast. This worries me though.

I'm so sorry about your shit taste.

lol that fucking hair

wat?

Everyone has an opinion.
Some people create their own, while others are lazy and just use someone elses and pretend it's their own.
But if you do the work to create your own, then its the only one that matters, regardless of what anyone else thinks. And if someone has a better opinion you can actually consider it without guessing that maybe they might be right, because you will actually know for sure.

ever since he was demagiced by the ministry he hit the muggle butterbeer hard

>Goblet of Fire movie
>suddenly everyone has long hair
wtf? What was the director going for with this?

Fuck off, Howard, and try to write a less pretentious review next time.
Your comments about the characters used a pathetic quantity weasel words, and it's unbecoming of someone who can actually write. Especially considering the mountain sized issues with the books you could have actually pointed towards.

People who's opinions are worth considering don't usually waste their time telling everyone else what they shouldn't enjoy.

I come to Sup Forums to kill time and talk shit, not get recommendations.
