I'm getting a presentation ready about bands in Japan for a college organization I'm an eboard member for. How does this list of bands look?

Deserve to be on there.
Got Boris but not Fishermans
I'm glad you reminded me of Midori
I seriously always forget Sabbat is Japanese
I'll add them, not really familier with them or Fishermans but I'm curious
Is there a particular theme you're going for, or just a list of prominent/popular bands?
I think prominent and key bands. stuff like Les Raliuz Deundes, ghost, acid mothers temple, Boris, and boredoms are bands I think most musicians or music fenatics think are important from Japan, and bands/musicians like Maximum the Hormone, Nujabes, Melt Banana, Asobi Seksu have had a wide impact on their scenes. Sigh I added because I always thought of them as an important black metal band from Japan.
>fishermans
where are the Fishing Mans?
Google tells me it's some dance club from the 80's
>no Asian Kung Fu Generation
M8, listen to Fanclub
Where's the POP? and you know, ACTUAL JAP TRAD FOLK?
Ikue Asazki for Traditional folk and for pop, well now there's Midori and I already had Miki.
if i were you i would re-work that into a sampler of japanese music throughout times (including oldies, for example) and switch the scope from just rock music to a lot of other genres, some which are more representative of the country (say, i dunno, japanese classical or stuff featuring their instruments like the koto or shamisen; or even j-pop to go for something contemporary)
this just seems like a list of rock bands you like. and don't get me wrong, that's not wrong and i like a few as well, but i think it would benefit from trying to separate yourself from it a bit
unless of course the "rules" (if there are any?) say you can do it about whatever you want, in which case you can let them know you are presenting your favorites
I mean the focus is suppose to be modernish, at least post WW2 stuff. I figured Ghost and LRD in addition to Miki were great places to start. I'm not quite sure where to start as far as hiphop and pop exactly though I will admit. I know either Asobi Seksu or Coalter of the Deepers was important in the initial Japanese Shogaze scene.
>I mean the focus is suppose to be modernish, at least post WW2 stuff
ah, i see
>pop
i would definitely pop Kyary Pamyu Pamyu or Perfume there somewhere, regardless of one might think of their worth as music (personally i love them, but i know j-pop ain't loved by everybody)
y'know, as representation of j-pop
mate where is
FLOWER
TRAVELLIN
BAND
Mother of the Dying Fetus, how the fuck have I forgotten about them for the past 10 years???
That's a name that sounds a little familiar, I'll add her.
