>tfw you realize literally every Sonic Youth song can be played in standard and still isn't difficult

lol you're me for the first year i was learning guitar. the novelty will wear off and you'll want to apply some theory eventually. not that alt tunings are incompatible with theory at all but it means finding new voicings for every chord, which in turn means it takes a long ass time to write anything.

Open E with a double drop G# (G#-E-B-G#-B-G#) and open D (D-A-D-F#-A-D) are really neat tunings though. And I know there are some other cool open ones used in emo/math rock.

open Asus2sus4?
I'm thinking that must be pretty dissonant, would be interested to hear some riffs though.

>He doesn't play F-A-C-G-C-E

open minor tunings have never sounded good in my experience

It just allows you to do the powerchord shapes all over the guitar. Pavement uses it a lot, but my favorite riff I've made up is in that tuning.

All of these

More like Sonically Youth!

C E G# C E G#

D-A-D-A-A-D but a quarter step up

E - A - D - G - B - D

you fucking normies
A - A - A - A - A - A
is obviously best tuning

But is A 440hz or 432hz?

both
at the same time

>D# - G# - C# - F# - A# - D# with a capo on the 1st fret

>F# F# F# F# C# F#

You've got me wanting to try this.
2 tracks tuned 8hz apart harmonizing.

Ur D-A-D-G-A-E

F-Bb-D-F-Bb-D

>tfw I unironically do this because the action is way too high at the nut
I'm gonna fix the nut soon but it's holding me over for now

this. with the exception of some early experiments they were doing,

also considering they were a 5 piece for a good while, pretty much all of it could've been arranged with 3 guitars and bass

oh well

point is that we had this complete fucking knob of a bandmate who oddly glib about this fact I use standard tuning. but the whole alternate tunings thing is so impractical. Sorry I can't afford to carry around a new guitar for every fucking song

Pic related

Open tunings are cancer that cause artists to make uncreative and boring music

wtf?

its a good album

C-A-B-B-A-G-E

youtube.com/watch?v=0cHdm9HOX8Q

my point was that "B#" doesn't exist technically, it's just "C"

my dude

B# exists in 15tet

>As if standard tuning isn't the best tuning.

DADF#BE

mm yes very good

Eb-A#-Db-G#-Bb-D#

>tfw you realize all sonic youth songs are like 3 chords max

it was disappointing, I wanted to learn Tunic but it's so boring

You can use the B with a # incidental to indicate natural C in some cases where autism thinks it would look nicer on the sheet.

My own way I memorized it

Who else just memorized
EADGBE without a mnemonic device?

The only cringe is how nobody on a music board knows about roman numeral analysis

That's not always the case imo but yeah they can encourage laziness

I call it the “every Nirvana song is now stupidly easy” tuning.
