So just instrumentally?

Asunder, Sweet, and Other Distress by Godspeed. It's their best sounding album, but it's also their worst album. I just love the Earthy, but noisier feel of it

no, the vocals can sound good too, without necessarily having your favourite melody/lyrics. You know what I mean

pet sounds
sargeant pepperoni

Rubber Soul

Good pick

Portishead - Dummy
Modest Mouse - Lonesome Crowded West

Niggas on the moon is probably up there too.

obviously

Analog worms attack is my choice
It sounds so crunchy, a lot of the drums and synths are recorded really hot, and it has such a unique sound. its been my favorite album for a while

This too, its dark, moody, and spacey i love it

Weirdly I really like the fuzzyness

this or dilla's donuts. summery, colorful, psychedelic. gorgeous man

Not SILY?

Came here to say Dummy.

Also Saudade by Thievery Corp. Can't understand a word of it except in 2 songs, but it just sounds so good regardless.

It's the Sally Ester-watts field.

Synths, samples, and distortions.

Imagine actually being this brainwashed by an autistic music board

he's listing some of the most universally praised albums of all time.

Still have yet to find something quite like it

I like this one a lot too, tickles my ears

...

for sure but wildflower feels a little more blissful to me. I always loved SILY but wildflower is easily my favorite of the two

No band has every made their instruments sound more like the passing winter air.

Yes
We need more Oizo on this board

Solid Runners Up

...

I think it might actually be this for me as well.

Agreed

Discovery.
The greatest album made by the hands of man.

mix of grunge, trip hop, shoegaze

nobody posted this yet? it sounds like bliss.

...

I really like Discovery, but damn is Homework fucking awful and really dated.

It has a couple of tracks I enjoy of course, the big ones Around the World etc. but the rest of the album sounds like something a kid made fucking around on a music maker app.
I couldn't even finish it through when I went back through their discography a few months ago.
Discovery I thoroughly enjoyed however, it's impressive how they improved so quickly.

>Homework fucking awful and really dated.
That was the point

Really?
I mean dated sure, I guess you can be into that, but are you telling me it was also awful on purpose or that you enjoy "awful"?

There is no album I'd want more from than this. Or soundtrack. Hell, down to song. I have so much wanted more like the Blade Runner Blues and very rarely found it, mostly from stuff that just tried to emulate it. Absolutely amazing, timeless piece of art.

The runner up was Low by David Bowie. Have a similar texture/mood feel with it, but this one just barely supersedes it.

Nick Drake - Pink Moon and Bryter Layter
Autechre - Exai
Emptyset - Recur
Tears for Fears - Songs from the Big Chair

Interesting thread

Sigur Ros Takk or Agaetis Byrjun

Definitely this. Blank Banshee is good with sticking to palettes on his albums. I love the synth sounds on this album. It has an almost dreamlike feel to it and I love the samples used.

...

The fuck are you on about? No kid on a music maker app could make beats that thick and full of flavour. It has crazy sample chops and every sound is perfectly produced and mixed while still sounding rough and noisy. Maybe you don't listen to very much dance music, because this aged better than most other shit from the same time, and most other house music

even though ocean of emptiness and aequinoxium blew me away the first time i heard them, i prefer the sound of liumin by the tiniest margin. i keep coming back to that album and finding new details that i missed on first listen.
what made you pick coldest season?

this album achieves the spacey sound better than any other
