Blackjack is a game that can be mathematically beaten through perfect basic strategy, card counting, and deviations.
For hi-lo card counting to work you assign numeric values mentally in your head for each weak and strong card that comes out of the deck.
Face cards like 10, J, Q, K, and Ace are worth -1 while weak cards like 2,3,4,5,6 are worth +1. Cards like 7,8,9 are worth nothing (count-wise).
By keeping track mentally of what cards have been dealt you can have a good idea of what cards are going to come out of the shoe next.
If you have a really high running count of, let's say 18, and there are only 2 shoes left to play then you have a true count of 9.
For each true count that you get, the house edge decreases by -.5% and that edge gets passed onto the player (You).
Bet big when the count is high and low when the count is negative. Casinos don't want the average joe to know this or else they will go out of business.
