>They were called metal at the time, but they weren't: Metal isn't sexy, but rock is.
-Joe Perry of Aerosmith when talking about Guns n Roses

>Is there such a thing? Metal sexiness? A bunch of sweaty dudes in black clothes? This is possibly the most sexless genre that you could find.
-Metal artist Devin Townsend

>Survey shows that metal is among the lesser genres of music to listen to while having sex
bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-38918963

>study shows metal and other intense music listeners correlate to lower testosterone in males (not as low as classical/jazz/avant garde that makes up "sophisticated", but still pretty low, lower than everything else)
Pic

You literally have to go to boring elevator music tier stuff to find more soy music than metal. Otherwise, just about everything else is far less soy than metal can ever be.

RIFFS BRÖTHER

the shit that really gets me going is when doom bands write faster tempo songs like Candlemass' Born in a Tank, makes my little nuts quake

lol

vektor terminal redux

>look mom I posted it again!

It's just slower power metal with no creative takes on riffing nor atmosphere. Boring as fuck.

Vektor - Terminal Redux

Seriously why is metal album artwork so cringy
It's either edgy skeletons/gore/violence or drawn by a hobbyist

t.

Great artwork, you're just insecure fag

early 90s dm had really cool artwork
i actually used to think unleashed was a black metal band based on this cover

And the award for doing anything but write a new album goes to.

Morbid Angel

>dude! i love merciless!

at least they try to convey something unlike all those random indie and electronic genres covers

...

that cover looks fine
black, grey and white black metal covers are shit

no one wants to hear that shit except mentally ill weaboos

they put an album out like 2 months ago

>metal is among the lesser genres of music to listen to while having sex
>Not blaring Blasphemy's Fallen Angel of Doom and Sarcofago's INRI while fucking your gf on her period

The album was supposed to be out in 2010 lol, every year since it's been "95% done" and even then half of it was supposed to be old songs re-recorded. If you'd have told me in 2008 that Luna Sea would reunite and release albums before X I wouldn't have believed you yet it happened.

>The Velvet Underground & Nico
>album has a song with riffs that transitions what the main riffing instrument is every time the riff develops, a song that's punk-like but done barrelhouse style, a song that's got a wall of sound juxtaposed with a viola to make it create unique texture, a heavy rock n roll song, a long form dynamicly progressed song, a very dark experimental pop song, a couple standard pop songs, and an improvisational track
>instrumentation has a variety of instruments that get used in a variety of different ways to create a ton of sounds

>typical album /metal/ dickrides
>all songs do the same heavy distortion guitar riff progression with the open note lowest string being the tonal center 99.999% of the time
>guitars don't change tuning or anything, drummers play in a certain way through the whole, nothing different through the album

How can the metal genre even compete? This isn't even about being soy or nu male. Metal albums rarely offer much difference from a song by song basis. I don't see how anyone can take such a genre seriously. The average metal album's a one dimensional, one trick pony experience.

>It's either edgy skeletons/gore/violence or drawn by a hobbyist
There is literally nothing wrong with this though

wrong, this album's got a cute lil whale on it

Not every album needs to be a cornucopia of 13 different genres

>soycofago
>fucking your gf
pick one

>soycofago
Where did this meme come from. I thought Sarcofago was liked here

>Metal albums rarely offer much difference from a song by song basis.
i like it that way

>album has a song with riffs that transitions what the main riffing instrument is every time the riff develops
yea, but all the riffs suck so it doesn't really matter

someone faggot that got upset that an user called their favorite band "soy" probably

it is, that guy's a redditor trying to fit in
>

soycofago is macaco non-white shit
t. Wagner Soymounier

Sarcofago is KVLTR than anything you listen to, faggot boy

No, but there needs to be variety there for the thing to not feel like an utter waste of time. TVU&N isn't exactly doing completely different things to the extent it all doesn't fit together either, there's a generally similar aesthetic through it all tying it together. Metal has no excuse.
More power to you I guess. Idk why anyone would wanna waste that much time essentially listening to the same thing.
Nah it's hella creative riffing that takes advantage of each instrument that takes center stage for riffing. Much more evocative than muh heaviness riffing which has no message or anything behind it, too.

t. failed Professor Antichrist's statistics class

Is there a metal song with the creativity in riffing of the main riff to Paranoid Android by Radiohead? I think not.

youtu.be/fHiGbolFFGw

Tab of the riffs cuz you guys are probably brainlets: tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/radiohead/paranoid_android_tabs_113681

>economist
>professor
>still lives in shithole minas gerais

100% macaco face

youtube.com/watch?v=i5hgTdsP9xg

>called dragonlord
>not a power metal band

Yea, well, the song you posted sounds like pop trash, and creativity doesn't help it really

>expecting metal guys to actually be talented or successful at anything

>Look it up
>It's real
researchgate.net/profile/Wagner_Lamounier

one of the kikes in anthrax is a watchmaker

>that intro chord progression
>pop
Lmao, imagine listening to nothing but distorted power chords for so long your entire concept of harmony and melodic progression is completely fried. This is below pop trash listener tier hahahah

this was the other recent album but i don't dig the operatic vocals but maybe you fags will
invictusproductions666.bandcamp.com/album/poisoned-atonement-2

its funny because it was made by a couple guys from Testament, so I imagine that they just couldn't leave PM out completely

>watchmaker
>relevant in the modern age
Pssshhhh

>even more borecore
Stop posting here

im in the army

no, i guess you're right nevermind

make me you jewbagel

>he doesn't own a watch
>tells the time with his "smartphone"

>harmony
>melodic progression
those are things only an overly faggy hipster cares about, so take your garbage somewhere else

>caring about parts of the music is faggy
Oh man, I always knew that metal was always about the image more than the music, but I never thought a metal fan would readily admit it as well. No wonder there's so much LARPing from metal people all the time.

>No wonder there's so much LARPing from metal people all the time.
seriously satan? you're just putting this together?

the only things that matter are RIFFS and oöghs, and image doesn't have anything to do with it (in most cases)

God Damn Evil

The entirety of Altars of Madness comes to mind, considering each song has multiple "main" riffs that is all tied together and each song connects to each other.

NEVER
NO, NEVER AGAIN
LISTEN TO ME AND BELIEVE WHAT I SAY IF YOU CAN

...

riffs ain't no fun if their melodic/harmonic content is no fun. Which is the case with metal as it fails to do anything inventive with the riffing concept.
>power chord riffs only: the album
>intro, verse/chorus x2, followed by development/breakdown, then verse or chorus type structure on all but one or two songs: the album
>creative at all
Metalheads confirmed to be pretty embarrassing.

sorry Graham's more alpha than you Varg

You were saying?

Mercyful Fate and Celtic Frost come to mind. Lots of neat tempo changes
Check out Celtic Frost's Into the Pandemonium if you want some unique sounding metal

Watch your filthy mouth, niglet

what's your favorite non metal album /meal/?
pic related for me

Nonsense, here's a pretty pink album cover.

This and The September Wind

Reminder to appreciate Sickie Wifebeater and his riffs and shreds.

Wow fuck
downloaded

>his pseudonym isn't similar in any way to Count Böoger Cunningulus Sleazegrinder von Emoslayer

Who has or had the best vocals in metal?

Graham Bonnet

It doesn't fucking matter if the riff is technical or """creative""", if it's good it's good. Metal is just not your thing, just like """creative""" Radiohead is not mine, and there's nothing wrong about disliking certain things. This whole fucking argument is subjective, so trying to prove how metal is dumb and all of us are dumb is also pretty stupid

As of now, my favorite is Travis Ryan.

>he doesn't like riffs

see this is nice and all but its not /metal/ enough
apart from spurdo edit, what do i add to this

chainsaws

I'm not sure if I love this ironically or not

Extend it to the left
What is it flipping off? That's up to you to decide

ill add some sad ex spikes too

Make him le first wave meme man
