I just linked the main theme, but this theme just sums up the mood of the film perfectly: Uneasy Paranoia. You never know where the "thing" is, but you know its somewhere, and that certainty is backed up by the synth beat. John Carpenter OST's are always amazing though.

I agree that John Carpenter's soundtracks are great, but I think the credit goes to Ennio Moricone.
However, I think that Moricone has much better songs then that one. His songs for cinema paradiso and Once Upon a Time in America are absolutely heart wrenching, while his music for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, along with the other spaghetti westerns, are a big component of what made those movies so great.

its just tuco running in the graveyard and yet The Camera in conjunction with the tremendous score, just elevate this scene to another level.
Now this song from Cinema Paradiso just rips my heart out. But I'll admit that a big part of the emotional draw comes from the movie, and not the song by itself.
