if you want an idea of what the universe lore of SW is building towards, watch CW and rebels, but it's mostly background noise to the story of rey and kylo ren

So far, the cast and crew have had mostly positive things to say about Episode VIII and honestly, I believe them.

Before TFA came out, the cast members were reporting that it seemed to treading ANH's tracks too closely, and obviously that ended up being true.

If those same people are saying that Episode VIII will be weird and unexpected, then I'm willing to believe them.
