isnt the previous thread

does this sound farty?
clyp.it/p2jmcaek

if you need to ask, yes
sounds like your microphone can't handle such low notes

BRAAAAAAAP

i hadnt realized there was an exciter on the signal chain that was causing distortion. just took it off, does it still sound farty
clyp.it/2dnsi4o0

>microphone
it was recorded from the bass line out

>does it still sound farty

Yes. Why can't you hear this yourself?

Can anyone recommend a free standalone (i.e. not VST) sample/beat slicer? I was looking at this but it's fifty fucking quid. I don't want to pirate because I don't want any viruses thanks.

Very brappy

>pirating gives you viruses
not in these times, grandpa (well, unless you really want to get them)

Standalones are rarer on the ground than VSTs but free ones are limited even further - LoopJam is free but looks a bit Fisher-Price if you don't want to go for pirated versions of ReCycle or BreakTweaker:

kvraudio.com/product/loopjam-by-codemusicians

>ReCycle
to be honest I'd probably pay for a copy of Recycle but I don't think it does direct exports in WAV format as far as I can tell.

clyp.it/2q03fula

any feedback?
i was debating ending the song on the slowdown, but accidentally pasted a bit of flute too late and liked it.

pic unrelated

I used to use an older version with my sampler and there were options for .wav export then - screenshot of the manual related.

Wav exports could be multiple files containing individual slices or a single wav of your chopped loop, but the best way to export for most DAWs (check the ReCycle website for details of those supported- seems to be a lot even now) is to export as REX2 with an associated MIDI file.

Hey dudes I'm pretty excited, this one I made is featured on the front page!

>when you've been mixing the same song on and off for days and it's finally starting to clean up a little

that's dope man keep it up

Could anyone identify the notes or scale being played by the more higher pitch synth and the low bassline? At about 02:00

pinkman.bandcamp.com/track/vilnius-brigade

I'm very dumb in music theory but I was wondering if it was possible and if so I would try to replicate the exact bassline

the main notes in the 1:20 part are G2 and G#2 (or G3 and G#3, there's a high pass filter so you can't hear the bottom frequency), the rest are just octaves of these two notes, play around with an arp and you'll get this melody

you don't need great ears, just download AnthemScore and see what's going on

Thank you!

bazinga!!

So what's your producer fuel /prod/?

Mine is pic related with a side of tea

jenkem

That would probably spark some untapped creativity

typically i don't eat/drink to make music
other than sometimes like 4 energy drinks

What's the difference between scales and modes?

IIRC scales are patterns of 7 notes and modes are just different iterations of the C scale/revolve around the C scale

it's like the difference between a square and rectangle but in reverse.
modes are basically scales, named by the order of the intervals. (i.e. the minor scale called the Aeolian, is the sixth mode. it has the half steps between the 2nd&3rd note and the 5th&6th note)

A scale is any set of (usually 7) notes that when used together sound a certain way.

A mode is the pattern you use to create the scale.
For example the Ionian (AKA major) mode is used by picking a root note, then picking the next by going up two notes (so you skip one), then again two notes for the next, then one, then two, two, two, and one to end up on the root note again (this time one octave higher).
If you started on C you'll have a C major scale,
also known as (which includes all the white keys (and only the white keys).

So if you want to make a major scale you just need to draw 8 notes on the piano roll on each white key from C to C, then move it up or down so it goes from/to the root note that you want.
If you do the same but draw the white notes starting from A you'll have created an A minor (aeolian) scale, wnd transposing it up or down will create a scale in the key of the note at the bottom.
Starting from D you get the Dorian mode, from E the Phrygian, from F the Lydian, from G the Mixolydian, and from B the Locrian.

What does it mean that the c major scale has a mode with the same notes as a a minor scale?
How are modes used as opposed to scales? Is it dependent on the way a particular set of notes are used?

See the post above yours.

How do I become The Orb

To all the '"""'"'producers'"""'"' here: You can't do shit. I am an actual artist and going to change and mix shit with different samples etc to make not full songs, but whole albums that include bridges, intros, outros and many different technique's to approach the samples I find. To me it's disgusting how you wannabe artists come here, take three seconds from Rubycon for a loop and think you're the shit. You are nothing.

is Kontakt for x64 only

I know for a fact that the player comes in a 32 bit version. Never used the full thing, though

stale pasta already

just get a 64 bit daw u queer

im 32bit windows

how old is your computer?

does it matter for anything but your judgement of my self

>no autotune
you should, though

Fine sorry for wanting to help

There was this one guy who posted a clyp around 2-3 threads ago named "bass(.mp3?)" and had a sort of rockabilly influence to it. If the user who posted that is still around, I would love it if you could make it downloadable, because it's now stuck in my head, and the link expired.

maggie may?

Yeah that was the song, thanks. I should've know Sup Forums couldn't produce such an earworm. I did quite like the way the user sung it though, this Rod Stewart guy is a little much.

ok
maybe youll like this one clyp.it/i32fstgm

Slate Drums >>>>>> EZDrummer

What about Addictive Drummer 2? I'm looking to get one of those three

i never checked it
didnt even download the slate either but yt comments said it blew ezd

everything is better than ezdrummer

most people say that's the best/most tweekable

why? i get mad drums with ezdrummer

I don't actually know I'm just talking shit
It seems to be the popular opinion when comparing all the big names tho

Supposedly less customizable for not as realistic soundz.

I use studio drummer, my biggest complaint is actually to do with kontakt rather than the actual sounds lol.

Composing isn't the problem for me; it's fucking around in a DAW that I can't stand. I just want to play music, my man.

record stuff and send ffor me to mix it

What DAW are you using, out of curiosity?

virgin steven slate drums vs chad general midi

Sounds like a sweet deal but I've decided to stick to solo piano.
I'm just messing around -- I don't even try to produce anymore. I've used Reaper and Logic in the past. Now I'm just trying to get used to Dorico.

I know I'm late, but here's my attempt at the /fsr/ challenge from yesterday's thread clyp.it/1fr30lpw

All sounds came from these samples:
>freesound.org/people/hyo/sounds/300/
>freesound.org/people/drogue/sounds/9300/
>freesound.org/people/junggle/sounds/29300/
This was my first time making a track completely from random samples, so feel free to rip me a new asshole or whatever. All feedback/suggestions appreciated

That is such a bullshit excuse, quit being lazy

Actually take the time to learn and nothing will be in your way. A daw will only add to what you can play by hand

How the fuck do i configure stuff on Kontakt? Routing, reverb settings, pieces volumes etc. I'm using the Cuba pack, in case the interface differs from pack to pack.

clyp.it/3ye0iso2

Also does anyone know where to get good MIDIs for this kind percussion: youtu.be/9YyLNc-9ZZE

'bosanova' is the keyword

You don't need vocals or much else to go above 10k. If you don't believe me listen to a freq above 10k and decide

What are you deaf? You can't brick wall at 10k and still sound modern

Yes you can

no

Modern lo-fi :^)

brainlet here, when I record a few tracks into my daw I can't make it as loud as the music tracks I here normally without clipping the track. How do make my tracks louder, do I have to master them? How do I master? Most of these are mic recorded instruments btw

Turn the volume up on your speakers dipshit

you probably want a compressor or a maximizer but i recommend this

but when I listen to normal music at the same volume it's wayyy louder

Any good bass guitar plugin?
FL's are pretty garbo

Fucking hell. Just got the Valhalla Shimmer, and now everything sounds like angelic choirs singing directly into my ears. Feels like cheating. But I guess Ill get tired of it sooner or later.

yeah i felt like too
the catch is that it has a gigantic delay, i can't use it on everything

it doesn follow the 1 3 4 rhythm of the guitar

i just realized the mic is cutting at 7 KHZ not 10

compressors and limiters

clyp.it/honpe2jd
Something I'm making.
Also, I need some help hope anyone can help me. I have an Arturia Microbrute, but somehow it's stuck in glide. By that I mean that no matter how it's patched, the notes glide which is pretty annoying.

mistake i've made many times, short answer = don't

why did you lowpass an entire mix at fucking 10khz

only homosexuals and girls listen to high frequencies

experimented with auto filter in ableton on the master for cool effects, gave the whole mix a default 10 khz filter, sounded like shit, flat af

What would be some essential vst plugins to torrent for vocal recording and processing?

do i really need to learn music theory to produce music? im tyna produce lofi chill hiphop vapor wave mall core music. you know what im talking about.

i did try to learn it but damn its really hard. but making music on my own and even sampling is really hard. like i can think of sounds that will sound good together in my head but if i put them together, they sound really bad!
