What's the general consensus on The Man in the High Castle? I have two more episodes until I'm done with season 2 and honestly I feel a little fucking lost. Why does everyone just accept the fact there's a huge Mandela effect thing going on with the films without question? One guy just up and moved to a different reality. I don't know if I like the supernatural element, if that's really what it is.

>ywn live in the great nazi reich or 1950's america
Is the neutral zone chill? Seems like it'd be pretty chill.
>bounty hunters going around cutting people's fingers off
Mountains are cool but I'd rather just live in the Reich. Imagine what a blast Reich-Texas would be like to live in.
Neutral Zone is a wasteland
Do they go into detail about how the invasion happened? The whole premise seems silly.
God I want to be slammed by Obergruppenfuhrer Smith
I watched the first season and have no desire to watch any more.
I mean the Nazis took over all of Europe so they had the industrial capacity and resources, as well as the superior tech. Roosevelt was also never the president so the USA never recovers from the depression in this timeline.
So when this Nazi-Germany on steroids develops nukes and no one else does once they nuke the Pentagon it's all over.
I guess they nuked DC?
You're right though, I don't think the Reich and Japan could have the resources to occupy parts of the US. And the idea of a neutral zone the size of a country with no real government really bothers me.
Yeah it seemed strange to me that the Nazis wouldn't take places like Colorado. Don't they like mountains and whatnot?
>industrial capacity
An inefficient industrial capacity plagued by party favoritism and purposefull sabotage by their slave labor. Their entire industrial model was awful. They had wicked steel production and skilled manpower but squandered it on an inefficient production design, switching to a new tank model every few weeks.
>superior tech
I mean, they had rockets. That's about it.
Just saying this junk to clear up common misconceptions.
Yeah. Hell, attacking Pearl Harbor was already a huge gamble. They only did it because they were desperate.
Test
Yeah, a country like America simply can't be occupied. It just wouldn't be possible
Maybe a civil war of some sort was instigated and the Axis powers stepped in to bring order
Their aerospace and small arms were vastly superior to the Allies technology. THE STG44 and the MG42 for example. They were also dabbling in jet engine plane technology towards the end of the war.
As for the rockets, imagine if Roosevelt never got the U.S. involved in the war and Britain actually fell instead of holding out. Even with their "inefficiencies" (an unsourced claim by the way) they would've had more than enough resources to invade the US if they were the only ones with nuclear weapons and Soviet Russia had been destroyed. (In the show Stalin was executed in 1949 after Moscow fell)
The Allies didn't win because of superior tech, we just had more steel and men to throw at the problem.
i couldn't finish the second season because frank was fucking insufferable
The second season is actually so much better than the first one it's disgusting. Shit went from zero to kino like nobody's business.
You're the same kinda people who'd complain about El ángel exterminador that the premise of a dinner party where nobody can leave the room for no reason in particular is silly.
Sometimes you just gotta accept the premise and see how they handle it. How they got to the premise doesn't always have to matter. A world in which Nazi-Germany won and occupies as much as it does in High Castle is obviously not very realistic, but this series incorporates fucking dimension travelling. It's like i'm watching Buffy only then with nazi's.
>complains about lack of sources
>provides no sources himself
Come on, mang.

Germany never really had a chance at invading England. Hitler didn't even want to do it.
Also the Allies were superior to Germany in most ways. They had radar, better intelligence, and better production models. Russian tank factories were a lot better thought out for a prolonged war, their tanks had better suspension, and used cast steel turrets instead of using rivets and welding. Russian factories tank factories were designed by Americans, so they were good. German factories were run by craftsman.
>it's a Tagomi-san navel-gazing episode
>he can't travel dimensionally by closing his eyes in a park
Where do you think all the Nazi memes come from? We go to the Nazi-world and stick em all on a flash drive, then come back and shitpost em here.
The premise is Americans like the idea of resisting Empire but in reality they are the evil empire, so they have to dream up ludicrous scenarios like this or Red Dawn.
Your country would be successful if the past 3 generations of your males weren't shit.
>trying to change the topic this hard
>Yeah, a country like America simply can't be occupied
It doesn't need to be "occupied" in absolute terms to begin with, occupying the east coast would quickly cause the remaining regions to weaken
The topic was always that you're obsessed with my country because deep down inside you're jealous you aren't one of us. You just weren't self-aware enough to realize it.
Does anybody have that version of Tomorrow belongs to me from the end season credits? I can't find it anywhere.
I'm American. Quit memeing.
Hitler's death was so...anti-climactic....even with the Nazis using his death to incite a war
You may live here, but you certainly aren't one of us. Your used dishrag whore of a single mother made sure of that.
mein gott, S2 had some incredibly shit-tastic writing
>Ed's and Childan's enslavement by the Yakuza ends by pure luck, thereby making their plot in the previous two episodes pure filler
>for some unfathomable reason, Tagomi feels the need to go back to the Japanese Pacific States universe even though he's perfectly happy in the American Pacific States world after reconciling with his wife and son
>the Nazi high command unironically believes that Japan has nukes, without stopping even once to think how fucking stupid it would be for the Japanese to hide this fact (and thereby invite the Reich to assume they can't retaliate and nuke Tokyo with impunity)
>and in the end the H-bomb film didn't even matter because Heusmann was going to do it anyway - only proof of the conspiracy with Heydrich took him down. Smith asking Erich to do a bit of research in 3 seconds of screen time was ultimately more important than 9 episodes of plot.
All Euros eventually join the Reich, which makes sense on how they are able to control half the fucking globe
Now Japan is fuckign nonsense that they control the other half of the glove from their little island, most of the people that join them are either servers or collaborators not actual allies
>Germany never really had a chance at invading England.
False
>Now Japan is fuckign nonsense that they control the other half of the glove from their little island
Yeah, when the fuck has an island nation ever ruled over large portions of the world?
>Germany never really had a chance at invading England.
What the hell makes you say this?
i want to protect ed and his smile :-(
>I have seen way worse Deus Ex Machina moments in series before I.E the countless times Dragons have saved Dany at the last minute
Tagomi started to realize he didn't belong in that universe and he had to do what he could to prevent his universe from suffering the effects of nuclear war, clearly you didn't watch the show
how is a world power hiding their technology and advancements anything new? they have always done this
I can't explain this one, Himmler accepted that Heusman was a traitor way too fast. I can only assume that he was suspicious of Heusman already since he was passed up for the new fuhrer position and this random guy got it
also, the radiation from the bombing caused Thomas physical defects.
>Yeah, when the fuck has an island nation ever ruled over large portions of the world?
LEEEEEEEEEEL
LE BRITANIA MENEJAJAJAJAJA
There is a difference between rulling over bunch of backwater fucking shitters who din't know how to read and ruling over post fucking enlightenment nations. See USA/soviets in middle east, getting shrekked by fanatic sheep herders
No his defects were caused by a congenital disorder passed down from Smith's side of the family. Smith's brother also had it.
Go on...
>all that chan culture cringe
No wonder you can't make friends irl.
Bump
RIP FRANK
And say hello to the new Resistance character, Shaneece. She is a strong independent black woman who survived the ethnic cleansing when her family fled to the neutral zone, she has lived with the oppression and violence of the Nazi regime for her whole life and she is ready for some serious PAYBACK, next season watch as she uses cunning, beauty and strength to fight the Nazi empire and Seduce the leader of the American Reich John Smith to lead the Resistance to new victories for all humanity. NEXT SEASON ON MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE.
>What the hell makes you say this?
No radar, a plane and pilot production that significantly outstripped Germany's, Britain's superior intelligence service, Britain's superior navy, and Hitler's general disinterest in the whole endeavor.
Germany just couldn't pull off an amphibious invasion like the Allied invasion of France's north and south coasts, or Sicily, or Italy, or the islands of the Pacific.
Do you listen to yourself?
>how is a world power hiding their technology and advancements anything new?
I didn't say it's new, I said it's a fucking stupid strategy given everything the characters and we the viewers know in the run-up to the final episode. All of S1 and almost all of S2 involved characters running around trying to ensure Japan attains nuclear parity with the Reich. The Japanese military knew that their empire would end the minute Hitler died because one of his hawkish successors would start lobbing nukes immediately. So why would they conceal the fact that they too have nukes and can retaliate by nuking Berlin? They would have literally nothing to gain and everything to lose by hiding that fact. Mutually Assured Destruction doesn't work if your opponent thinks you don't have nukes.
For most of the season I thought they were under the impression that the Reich didn't know they were building a nuke only that they were trying to figure it out, their plan was to build a nuclear arsenal and strike the Reich first in secret then around episode 8 or 9 the reich finds out and plans to nuke them immediately before John Smith shows up and makes it seem like they have a more advanced arsenal. with all that in mind of course they would conceal that they had nukes, they wanted to do a first strike.
But he was in the film in which SF was nuked...
Season 2 was boring as hell. Shit better git gud in season 3.
Very, very terrifying and a powerful reminder that we MUST keep Trump OUT of the 'white'house.
both his mother and father are carriers of the defected gene
Just like in real life
Most people liked season 1.
Season 2 was decent but the only people who think season 2 is better than 1 are nazi sympathizers
>Amazon original
Your first mistake there senpai.
Well, depending on what period of the war it's in, then they wouldn't have to really "occupy" the US. A huge swath of the US would be ok with siding with the Germans, primarily the central area. Of course, renaming it as part of the Reich wouldn't fly here, but if they had a strong military threat to us, it would be entirely feasible for them to "persuade" a sympathetic ruler, making us an ally while pushing Nazi agendas. Damn near happened anyway.
>Roosevelt was also never the president so the USA never recovers from the depression
Fuck off, Hoover. You were shit.
>taking the FDR meme seriously
I have some bad news for you user
Shit map. The Mediterranean had been drained.
>millions of Americans not doing anything constructive
>suddenly millions of Americans doing something constructive again
