High Rise by Ladytron is what My Bloody Valentine's returning single in 2013 should have been. People would call it a shoegaze masterpiece but because it was made by a semi obscure band, almost no one cares. Prove me wrong.

Sounds like a watered down version of a Stereolab track
Which track? Post it.
Why would I listen to this when I can listen to Curve????
For 2 reasons: this is a modern take of shoegaze, so it's not the same thing; Curve didn't make a song like High Rise. If you were a true Curve fan you would know that.
High Rise isn't shoegaze you mong
I get where you're coming from but Stereolab would never be so cheesy with the kick drum intro
Not an argument, dumbass. If it's not shoegaze, what is it? Polka?
Did you ever write a good post, tripfag? Every fucking time I see your name I see shit posting.
Electroclash / Indie Rock
>make innocuous post
>receive bootybother
There's no winning with you guys.
indie rock
Say what? Do you even know what electroclash is? Did you actually listen to High Rise?
This is electroclash: youtube.com
Now listen to High Rise.
Indie rock is stuff like Rilo Kiley and Death Cab For Cutie, not that distorted guitar heavy track with blurred vocals. Listen to the damn track first.
This sounds exactly like High Rise without the guitars which is why I added 'Indie Rock'
Not a single track. Bits of Come and Play In The Milky Night, Moogie Wonderland, and French Disko come to mind.
...
Beauty*2 is better
You must be baiting. That's like saying that MBV sound just like The Beach Boys without the loud distorted guitars + effects. The loud distorted guitars + effects and the obscured vocals are what it makes shoegaze, shoegaze.
>Its sound is characterised by an ethereal mixture of obscured vocals, guitar distortion and effects, feedback, and overwhelming volume.
This is exactly what's happening in High Rise. It's shoegaze, like it or not.

Beauty*2 is not shoegaze...
Lolwut? Those songs don't sound like High Rise at all. Not even close. Honestly, did you even listen to that bloody song?
Huh? This is an original thread, friendo. No one ever posted it before.
I wouldn't call Ladytron semi-obscure. Everyone in the indie crowd was listening to them back in the early to mid 2000's.
>Lolwut? Those songs don't sound like High Rise at all.
The organ and chord progression are similar to French Disko. The kind of fuzz and stereo panning is reminiscent of Moogie Wonderland. The whole droney-guitar-following-the-backing-chord-progression thing is also similarly done on Come and Play In The Milky Night.
Slightly similar elements don't make a whole song similar. Those songs you posted don't have that droning guitar, the lyrics are very different, the drums are different, the arrangements are different, the singing style is different, the production is different, the chords are different, the harmonies are different, the BPM is different, and so on.
You must be tone deaf if you believe they're similar.
sounds like kmfdm minus the industrial part but just as bad
ROFL! From all bands you picked KMFDM? Since when KMFDM are doing shoegaze/synthpop, bro?
>kmfdm minus the industrial part
KMFDM minus the industrial part = just some guys and gals shouting slogans
Pick a random KMFDM song. Let's say this one youtube.com
Remove the industrial part. What's left? High Rise, LOL?
I'M SO TIRED OF LADYTRONSHITTER
YOU'RE MAKING ME HATE A BAND I LOVE
STOP SPAMMING THEM YOU FUCK
FUCK YOU ANIMAL
>Those songs you posted don't have that droning guitar
3:23 on Come and Play In The Milky Night
ladytron were pretty big senpai
Triggered much, autist? Let me discuss one of my favorite bands. You either participate to music discussion or simply get the fuck out of here.
>YOU'RE MAKING ME HATE A BAND I LOVE
Do I look like I give a fuck? Grow up, kid. This is not your playground.
LadyTron's about to release a new album btw.
youtube.com
Hmmmm... Then why does Sup Forums pretend they don't exist? Why they never make threads about them, unless I remind this bunch of plebs that they exist? It really makes me think.
damn this reads like a youtube comment
>Then why does Sup Forums pretend they don't exist?
Mu doesn't talk about a lot of popular bands. How often do you see an R.E.M. thread?
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
because it's 2018, years after their peak, and Sup Forums is trendy meme central
Pretty often. At least I see a REM album cover almost daily.
I don't understand how Sup Forums could discuss so much about the same fucking artists over and over again.
considering most youtube comment sections have an average iq of 30 it’s definitely a good thing
>implying you don't write shitty youtube comments
Be honest, ffs.
M83 would be a better comparison. Both Ladytron and M83 emerged at similar times with similar influences, but neither brought anything new to the table.
the difference is that m83 is still going and ladytron haven't released in album in pushing for a decade now. this can't really be that difficult for you to comprehend, surely
Idiotic statement. Ladytron started in 1999, M83 started in 2001. M83 started making droney shoegaze, Ladytron started making early '80s influenced synthpop. Both bands evolved in different ways and both of them brought something new to table.
Stereolab-fan, stop this madness. You have no right to talk shit about M83 and Ladytron when your fave band stole all krautrock, jazz and french pop gimmicks.
what point are you trying to make here?
Since when less than 7 years = pushing for a decade?
i haven’t written a youtube comment since i was 13
go be autistic somewhere else
take more spice you fucking pleb
I never said they sounded similar. Just that they had similar influences. Also, they definitely emerged around the same time. Pic related.
And now you're 14?
It's a cool track, but not a masterpiece.
Why did you say they brought nothing new to table? These bands have certainly their own sound, for better or worse. They craved their own niche, so they actually brought something new to table (that blend of synthpop, new wave, dream pop, '60s pop and shoegaze). Who else attempted that style before them?
Give it more listens.
>A human drummer made the sound of Witching Hour (Rykodisc, 2005) catchier but less danceable (the notable exception being the house orgy Destroy Everything You Touch). Thus Sugar, Beauty and International Dateline ignited a Copernican revolution in electroclash, basically closing an ephemeral fad. For Ladytron that meant a less bombastic and more personal style. The emotional peak was Fighting in Built Up Areas.
>6/10
Been listening to it since 2005
yes
yesterday was my birthday
OK. So you're never going to understand why it's a masterpiece.
I honestly don't understand Scaruffi. That review looks positive but he gave it a boring 6/10. This dude doesn't seem well versed in electronic music anyway. He listens to everything and nothing.
please enlighten me on how it's a masterpiece
>(that blend of synthpop, new wave, dream pop, '60s pop and shoegaze). Who else attempted that style before them?
Brian Eno, Swirlies, Stereolab.
...
>The emotional peak was Fighting in Built Up Areas.
>not Beauty*2, Soft Power, International Dateline or All the Way
Scaruffi is weird. He picked the most industrial track from WH as the most emotional: youtube.com
Also reminder that Sup Forums's favorite reviewer gave Aqua's debut a 7/10. Not many credentials left for "The fact that so many books..." reviewer.
scaruffi.com
>Brian Eno, Swirlies, Stereolab.
Those artists didn't make albums that blend of synthpop, new wave, dream pop, '60s pop and shoegaze. Prove me wrong.
OH NO NO NO NO NO
...
I don't see the problem.
they’re shit
lord scruffy says so
Here Comes The Warm Jets features the kind of singing style M83 would use on HUWD. The ambient-ish tracks on Another Green World are very similar to the kinds of instrumental tracks on Dead Cities and Before The Dawn Heals Us.
>Those artists didn't make albums that blend of synthpop, new wave, dream pop, '60s pop and shoegaze
Stereolab blend all of those.
youtube.com
Here's a real shoegaze masterpiece
Stereolab never did synthpop.
It's more like dreampop. The guitars aren't loud enough. Nice tune.
Dots & Loops
6/10 is a pretty good from scaruffi you mong
Love these guys. I wish we had more Radio Dept threads instead of Ladytron ones.
Dots and Loops synthpop?
But Ladytron > The Radio Dept. TRD have nice music but they're one trick ponies. Ladytron are far more diverse and better songwriters.
A gross mis-categorization, likely due to the fact that it was produced by the dude from Tortoise. Dots & Loops can most certainly be considered synthpop.
>autist hipster detected
why do you want to keep the band only for yourself, jerk? a music board is for discussing music, not for your shitposting.
it’s shit
If you're into that. Radio Dept are like a shy introverted version of New Order.

Not a trace of synthpop.
I like Pet Grief the most. 'Tell' is a really good tune: youtube.com
Have you heard the album? There's a lot going on, so the synthpop aspect often gets overlooked. Miss Modular is just as "synthpop" as most Ladytron tracks.
Fuck you piece of shit
I've been digging their Pulling Our Weight EP lately. Especially We Climb The Wired Fences. That piercing fuzz juxtaposed with the synth at 2:12 gives me chills every time.
youtube.com
Clinging To A Scheme's probably their most consistent album imo, and my personal favourite by them.
>because it was made by a semi obscure band

U mad, kid? You may need some chill pills.
I've seen like 3 Ladytron threads in the past day, also there are plenty of popular bands Sup Forums rarely talks about. And also Ladytron hasn't released an album in 7 years, but I bet when their new one gets released this year, it will be talked about on here.
lol this is garbage. compare the tone on this to the endless craft that goes into every tone present on MBV. you cant even do it
Elaborate.
I heard it some years ago. It seemed more like jazzy art pop or something; not exactly the teutonic beat heavy synthpop of Ladytron. Let's face it: Ladytron developed their own style and can't be confused with someone else. Stereolab didn't even attempt to do what Ladytron did.
Am I the only one who likes Stereolab and Ladytron?
>I've seen like 3 Ladytron threads in the past day
Except that 2 of them weren't Ladytron threads - they only had their name/image. e.g, This thread is about a comparison with MBV, another thread is about "artists with the best influences". You people should learn to read the fucking titles.
mbv was solid as fuck though, and seriously underrated compared to loveless. I think it's on par with Loveless.
I doubt it. I like them too, but SL only in small doses.
I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece, but I like it a lot
The first 3 songs were too sleepy and Nothing Is just a repetitive filler. Other than that it was good enough but not even close to Loveless.
Show me a song you consider to be a masterpiece.
The first track is one of their best songs.
Hmmmmm....
she found now is one of their best songs.in my opinion. their dreamy work is some of their best stuff
>Ladytron
What even happened with this band? I remember them being extremely hip to like in the early-to-mid 2000s. Even as a kid I remember knowing about them for some reason.
