Which one?
>famous for being a perfectionist
>didn't shoot vietnam war scenes during the vietnam war
fucking hell what a hack
he was such a perfectionist, the idea that he could be killed in a metal tube soaring in the sky and he would never be able to make another movie... he filmed vietnam scenes in england.
The bone cut in 2001
>Kubrick can't be bothered to leave England
>Coppola spends two years filming in the Philippines while a civil war is going on and drives himself almost to the point of suicide and breaks himself so he can never make another truly great film
I envy people that can see a movie and think it's really hapening. I already asume every cut means the shots were taken in different days, maybe in different stages, or that if you can only see one actor in frame, the other guys had a free day and weren't there, and shit like that
>Makes a better movie with less self suffering
>Makes an inferior movie and fucks his life permanently
Ok
stanley kubrick more like stanley cuckrick am i right
IMPLYING FULL METAL JACKET IS BETTER THAN APOCALYPSE NOW
wow you should be pretty stupid
I'm just redpilled, faggot
It is, bro. It is. In fact, the first half of FMJ is just the best shit ever made.
nice meme, kid
whatever. I just told you what I feel.
knowing how a movie is made is not being redpilled, faggot.
Rural England looks exactly like 'Nam.
Look up the behind the scenes that part of london looked like a shithole and the buildings were being demosloshed. He flew it tropical trees to plant. It looks great you can't even tell
Again, friendly reminder that most of Kubrick films takes place in the same universe: Kubrickverse.
Part of the Kubrickverse
2001: A Space Odyssey
A Clockwork Orange
The Shining
Full Metal Jacket
Eyes Wide Shut
And maybe:
Dr Strangelove.
The thing is if you didn't know FMJ was filmed in England you wouldn't even know the difference
Go back to /Cracked/
t. pleb
everyone knows that the second half of fmj is the better half and it still is much more inferior to apocalypse now.
why not Barry Lyndon?
Keep dreaming one day you'll be Patricia.
>Patricia
Lmfao
Is there any evidence for this besides the fact none of them happen to contradict each other?
I'm an idiot for replying to memes, but the Vietnam scenes in FMJ were really well done. Most people probably couldn't tell that wasn't Vietnam and you probably didn't either until you saw some documentary or read the wiki.
Not true 2001 is a movie in A Clockwork Oranges universe
You don't mention A.l., a very personal project, he spent decades trying to get made.
>Famous for being a perfectionist
>Didn't film in space
really make you think
lmao what a pleb. FMJ is kubrick's worse and possibly the most overrated flick ever conceived. 90% of it hurts to watch
Control.
If he flew over to Vietnam or another tropical climate he'd have to deal with local authorities, have to answer to the suites back in L.A.
But if he built his own Hue from the ground up in England it meant that he had the studio hierarchy in his pocket. And that's why he was able to shut down production twice... stop filming in black and white 16mm, wait for the Drill Instructor to recover from broken ribs and shit
It was about control, or at least attenuating chaos.
wtf I just hated Kubrick but I love him again now
>Famous for being a perfectionist
kaka
more like autist
England is turning into an Asian country nowdays so he just was adapting to this.
that's just the shadow of the ghost helicopter following them to the outlook wiht the previous caretakers and Cheif Palefacecolonialism the last surviving indian from the masacre you fucking idiot
proof? can you see the reflection of the helicopter?
No?
OF COURSE NOT, IT'S A FUCKING GHOST HELICOPTER, PILOTED BY GHOSTS!
Fuck Sup Forums is stupid
After he moved to England, he never once travelled by plane, only boat. His castle in england even had a moat. He was scared for his life.
naturally, ((they)) had him killed because he was going to go public about the moon landings and secret societies. Eyes wide shut was also heavily edited with large parts cut out before it's release
>2017
>tries to shitpost about Kubrick without knowing about the aspect ratios
>It was these fullscreen versions that were released on VHS and DVD, and thus the versions that many fans have grown to love after years of repeated home viewings. They were indeed the versions favoured by Kubrick for home display, but not for theatrical presentation. This is perhaps most obvious when you compare the opening scene of The Shining. In the full frame version, the camera helicopter’s shadow can be glimpsed for at least one second, while it is hidden in the widescreen version. Surely a perfectionist like Stanley Kubrick would not ultimately favour the version with such a blatant technical glitch.
>But when films like The Shining were screened in two different formats (slightly wider in the US, slightly taller in Europe) it becomes harder to honour the film-maker’s intentions. Warner Brothers could offer fans the choice, but considering there are three possible aspect ratios and two different cuts of The Shining, the prospect of all those transfers becomes daunting (not to mention prohibitively expensive).
>The current DVD/blu ray release of The Shining uses yet another aspect ratio — the current widescreen TV standard of 16:9, which is somewhere between both theatrical versions. It’s preferable to a compromised version of the film based on outmoded technology, but it is still a compromised version of the film… just one based on current technology! It’s less drastic a change than the one necessitated by 4:3 screens, but honestly, are black bars really that distracting when they allow us to see the vision originally presented to us in the cinema?
I mean he imported specific trees from Vietnam from photographs, that kind of makes up for it
fuckign liberal
>Eyes wide shut was also heavily edited with large parts cut out before it's release
This still makes me mad, hope anyone could find the missing reels someday.
Let me let you in on a little secret, OP. Kubrick never once mentioned being a perfectionist. Not once. There is no interview where he says this, there's not one person that can give you evidence of kubrick ever telling them that he was a perfectionist.
This perfectionist myth was invented by Kubrick fans. There are loads of continuity errors in his films which are conveniently explained away if you convince yourself he did them on purpose.
He's not going to say 'I'm a perfectionist' but of course he was and everyone knew it.
Print this out or get the full book
>evidence of kubrick ever telling them that he was a perfectionist.
Kubrick had the highest shooting ration of any film director ever (Something like 50:1). This alone is evidence of his perfectionism.
But you can try reading some biographys that include accounts of the DoP`s, production managers, art directors, etc, to hear them saying he was absolutely mad about perfectionism.

Really make you think
a "rare" display of robotic contrarianism
This user is correct.
Yes there are evidence and easter eggs.
Not true 2001 was a soundtrack cover in in A Clockwork Orange music store universe. Its was probably in honor of the events played in 2001.
A.I was directed by Steven Spielberg (fellow Jew) therefore not part of the Kubrickverse.
2001: A Space Odyssey
A Clockwork Orange
Barry Lyndon
The Shining
Full Metal Jacket
Eyes Wide Shut
Those films takes place in the same universe: Kubrickverse
And maybe Dr Strangelove too, but i'm not sure.
Oh yeah, pilgrim?
Fuckin neck urself pleb
Not a chance.
Yeah but Kubrick had been working on it for years.
>And maybe:
>Dr Strangelove.
yeah, uh, i dont think FMJ could have happened after the events of Dr. Strangelove
PLEB
Easter Egg doesn't mean shared universe. Its just an easter egg.
excellent read, underrated post, take some upboats friend
>Paths of Glory - based on the novel of the same name by Humphrey Cobb
>Spartacus - based on the novel of the same name by Howard Fast
>Dr. Strangelove - The film is loosely based on Peter George's Cold War thriller novel Red Alert, also known as Two Hours to Doom
>2001 - was partially inspired by Clarke's short story "The Sentinel which was expanded and modified into the novel and movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.
>Barry Lyndon - The film is based on the 1844 novel The Luck of Barry Lyndon by William Makepeace Thackeray
>Full Metal Jacket - It is an adaptation of the 1979 novel The Short-Timers by Gustav Hasford
>Eyes Wide Shut - drama film based upon Arthur Schnitzler's 1926 novella Dream Story.
>The Shining - The film is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King.
>A Clockwork Orange - film adaptation of Anthony Burgess's 1962 novella A Clockwork Orange.
>Lolita - based on the classic novel of the same title by Vladimir Nabokov
>The Killing - based on the novel Clean Break by Lionel White.
>"good"
>bone
well that was hard to do, he need the bone to go from counter clockwise to clockwise.
Yeah i really enjoyed that read too. Seems like had final cut of Eyes Wide Shut afterall. Gotta check the article dates and the actual release dates to be sure tho.
Yeah, uh i think you right.
But thats why i said maybe.
Yeah but Spielberg directed the project with his ideas and style not Kubrick.
Therefore A.I is not a part of the Kubrickverse.
What are you talking about? Thats one of my favorite edits in cinematic history.
i have the same but only when i am high
normally i dont notice such stuff
>Filmed Vietnam scenes in England
wow really? impressed
i guess that reinforces your first point
Sometimes Easter Eggs means that films/books/games share a universe and are connected.
Therefore, most Kubrick films takes place in the same universe: Kubrickverse.
i think he means how there's a jarring cut between the bone going up and the bone going down
>Eyes wide shut was also heavily edited with large parts cut out before it's release
Iirc the orgy scenes weren't cut, they just digitally manipulated the shots to tone some of them down.
>FMJ is kubrick's worse and possibly the most overrated flick ever conceived
Quite the accomplishment to have your worst film be better than the vast majority of directors best films.
Because by 1987 he stopped caring.
he was always a hack
only plebs buy into the 'genius kubrick' meme out of insecurity
like Mozart
>to inllelitent to enjoy movies
This.
>mfw when another moron tries to explain the genius behind a Mozart piece that he wrote in 5 minutes for a student to practice fingering with
Every fucking time.
yes you are right.
I said overrated, not worse. It's still pretty bad by kubrick's standards
>muh immersion
away to with you. The best thing ever is to study a film on the go and see amazing production and talent of the director.
(You)? Is that Me?
he shot everything in england (and bits and pieces in ireland) ever since he moved there in 1962.
He would send out crews to shoot the odd shot here and there ie. a few shots and plates in africa or the helicopter and snowscapes stuff in the shining.
guy was a pretty maniacal producer of his stuff too. he would often say he could shoot anything within 25 miles of his hertfordshire home... and he did.
>I said overrated, not worse.
>FMJ is kubrick's worse and possibly the most overrated flick ever conceived
It's not, also get your story straight.
lol fuck you for making me think about this
mozart = kubrick
salieri = ?
coppola
fuck you
>mozart = kubrick
>salieri = Sup Forums
stick to tarantino flicks my friend
This is not true. Kubrick was hired by the US Government to fake the moon landing. However, he was such a notorious perfectionist he demanded they film on location, on the moon.
...
Stick it to Bay flicks, mein nigga
Apocalypse now is shit, are you 12?
>Famous for being a perfectionist
>Jack Nicholson wasn't actually a psychopath
What the fuck Kubrick?
>Jack Nicholson wasn't actually a psychopath
Is Jack Nicholson a psychopath or is it just a meme?
