REMINDER THAN STONER ROCK IS NOT METAL

deathmetal.org/article/stoner-rock-is-not-doom-metal/

no one here likes that shit except Sup Forums tourists

CRYYYYYYYYYYYYY OF AAAAAAA RESTLEEEEEEEEESSSS SOOOOOOOOOOOOUL

Anyone got In Flames old shit? Anything before 2000 specifically.

I have realized that the patrician opinion is ultimately that a lot of the metal that gets labeled as casual or soyboy music is actually the best metal.

At first I used to dislike that stuff, too because I thought it was there to water down metal's intensity and that metal's only good when it straight up doing aggressive riffing. The idea that everything but aggressive riffs Is bells n whistles.

But the I realized that metal being just aggressive riffing is purposefully making everything too one dimensional. It becomes boring after a while to just have that view point on the music; you end up getting burnt out on what you're listening to. When I started listening to other music genres I started appreciating non-metal aspects in metal that much more because I realized that there's a different way to appreciate that music than metal. There's nothing wrong with dynamics or interesting unique timbres being in metal. That being said, Blackwater Park is still trash, I can't believe that cool as shit riff goes into that stupid acoustic guitar section that doesn't work from a lyrical narrative nor musical narrative perspective.

in flames has always been trash

>taking DMU/ANUS seriously
What's wrong with this place?

Post obscure trad

stoner """metal"""" sucks dude

dmu staff are right all the time and have god-tier taste

ON VIRGIN SOIL
SERPENTS ARE BORN

Super out of the loop.

Did /metal/ did a complete 180° on anything that isn't hardcore, oldschool metal? I remember when this place used to like progressive and hated power metal for it being cheesy.

power and progressive are shite genres for virgins and hipsters

I am not sure how the heavier bands in the genre aren't metal, nor how they don't riff from track to track.
Lmao. Although with how /metal/'s been for about the past year or so, I wouldn't be surprised if guys from there or teenagers who found that place for the first time are posting here.

youtu.be/2sMuuZx1MJM
If you don't like black metal Phil Anselmo foad

>/metal/ is one person

still shitposting general as you can see

/metal/ has always had a hard on for black and death
anyone who says otherwise is an unironic newfag

Yup, very young autists took the older joke posts about not posting anything but RIFF or w/e too seriously, and the nu Sup Forums iimmigration flanderized even that idiocy to new levels. Shit's a waste of time, like dude just post music you're enjoying or something more substantial than nu male or soyboy or w/e. Or at least get creative with it. This place is boring as fuck now, too since the older posters who actually knew where to find good shit don't post here either, so it's circlejerking the same old shit.

darkworld has the subterranean ep which is all you need

Yeah you're absolutely right. The only people that don't enjoy variety in their music are people who haven't listened to enough of it i.e. people with shit taste.

Poland just put out the aoty #2
>black/thrash/idk but it RIFFS

you can visit /r/metal if you don't want your music taste to be mocked. you'll get a lot of upvotes there.

>implying I wasn't banned from r/metal years ago for posting Manowar

i listened to less than seconds and can already tell this is a generic worthless album

less then ten seconds

>g-go to reddit so I can justify wasting my time posting the same shit over and over again cuz I am totally the troll master guise!
I probs would use r/metal if it facilitated discussion as well.

where are you finding all these "generic" black/thrash bands that riff this hard
please patch me through, let me in on the secret

literally any thrash/black/death band with hardcore influence sound the same
not to mention what i listened to is just a senseless collection of riffs, barely even a song

rec me something then queer, im a sucker for that combo

Beat me to it

nothing because all band that sound like this suck and i dont listen to them

Opinions on this?

i listened to a couple minutes and turned it off

i left this place like a month after dmshareguy disappeared, like 2 years ago at this point
i miss you guys sometimes but jesus christ whenever i take a peek in here all i see is garbage music

Then post what you like you fucking queer
also, /metal/ is better off without tripfaggots like dmshareguy, FIFH, preacher and even witchy

metal is garbage what do you expect

for some reason I liked Dim and Gastro better than this new album

kinda sounds like he abandoned the HM-2. And this shit is bordering on melodic death at this point

dmgoy and witchy were valuable posters
FIFH was a cunt but he had good taste
i don't even remember preacher
youtube.com/watch?v=k-YgRXoZFfw

preacher isn't so bad. dmshareguy and fifh were fucking annoying though

blameua.bandcamp.com/album/almanac

anyone else listening to this? it has the drummer from Nile on it and he kills it

When did you realize that power metal is the apex of the metal genre?

t. larping manchild

When I heard pic related

>tfw like pre-Barney Napalm Death but dislike the cringey SocJus lyrics
What's your feel, /meal/?

Not him but:
>Bonehunter
>Belphegor
>Spinebreaker

i feel the same way about skinny puppy. it was a different time.

is this trve?

>implying most of metal doesn't have cringey SJW lyrics
>implying even bands like Slayer, Cannibal Corpse and Bolt Thrower aren't artsy hipster leftists

i don't get it

>The Principle of Evil Made Flesh
It's good. Cruelty and the Beast is the best tho.

melodeath sucks

Are you that absolutely fucking based melodeath hating sperg poster?

mediocre

Holy shit 5 votes for melodeath, FIVE. Last thread it was only 4 (I say only but the fact that 4 people picked melodeath is astounding). Who are these people? Seriously identify yourself if you're one of those 5. I'd be less appalled if djent, nu-metal or deathcore was an option that got 5 votes, at least then you're showing your true colors that you're just a mallcore kid who's trying to hang out with the big boys. But fucking melodeath. Out of every subgenre to pick from in metal 5 people picked melodeath. Is there some untapped reservoir of legendary melodeath bands that we've all been completely blind to? Are there thousands of actually god-tier melodeath bands out there that unbeknownst to all of us have been pushing out quality releases since the genre's inception? Because right now Intestine Baalism and Arghoslent stand undisputed as the kings of the genre, and even they aren't that good. So for fuck's sake, let one of the five insane madmen come out from the shadows and announce to the rest of the thread their love for melodeath because I'm completely shocked that 1 person, let alone 5, would dare even CONSIDER placing melodeath as their favorite metal subgenre when asked such a question.

Even the fucking guitarist of MESHUGGAH hates melodeath.
metalinjection.net/latest-news/meshuggah-guitarist-hates-swedish-melodeath
>I hate it. I totally loathe it. Listen, I have nothing against the guys in the bands. I have nothing against the bands. I'm happy for them. If they're doing well and if that's what they want to do then fucking "hey good for you". If you're talking from my personal tastes, I prefer when bands play metal and not Slaughter and pop music with fucking attributes of a metal band. You got two guys with distorted guitars and then you got two chicks singing and three keyboards and then they play "lalalala". It's not why I got into metal.

Melodeathfags are beyond pathetic, you essentially listen to music that is a bastard child between traditional heavy metal and death metal but instead of taking the best from both genres it just dilutes what each respective genre is good at into a musical abortion. American melodeath, Swedish melodeath, Finnish melodeath they're all shit. Vehemence, Garden Of Shadows, Kalmah each band is respectively garbage and if you like any of them you should donate your testicles for scientific research since you probably won't be needing them any time soon.

Fukken saved

>numaled nazarene

It went from the least best song on the album to fucking incredible. RIP was already my favorite album but holy shit this is a such a huge improvement

HEARTWORK SUCKS

Yeah the original is much better. For those that don't want to spring for an original copy, this fairly cheap and available reissue is from the original tapes and sounds fantastic discogs.com/Megadeth-Rust-In-Peace/release/1879543

STORMSTORMSTORMSTORM

What the the essential black metal bands. So far im listening to Burzum, Emperor, Immortal, Darkthrone, Mayhem. Learning more bands will be important for my viva voce

Those are essential second wave black metal, give first wave a try. Bathory & Celtic Frost (and by extention Hellhammer) are where its at.

Thanks

>/metal/ is better off without tripfaggots
something i hope we can all agree on

Well this was shit.
Post dud metal albums you have listened to recently.

>claims stoner rock is not metal

whoa,whoa,whoa,heeeeeey

>The music is not riff based and the riffs are not melodic phrases to be arranged into a narrative.

someone has not heard of Fucking Manchu

So Sup Forums, "new" No Zodiac line-up or Bodybag?
I enjoy the the Phoenix guys brought to No Zodiac, it's not that different from what their peers used to do with the band (except for the vocals) but Bodybag is really going out there and searching for a sound for themselves.
