Why are they so hated? No one ever says why? Is it like the same thing with U2?
Dave Matthews Band

lol
if you're under 40 you have no reason to like this band
they belong in a 90s college dorm and burning man and nowhere else
Wait am I hallucinating or does the whitest band in existence have back members?
Ruth Infartinato from the old MTV said she was attracted to the vocalist when she interviewed him.
I always hated him for that, I'm legit jello.
They sound like John Mayer with less balls. That takes a lot.
Essential late 90s rich white suburban colleg-core
like Phish but less autistic
They're pretty neat to listen to if you're a drummer. I don't know other than that.
The same reason why I don't like Phish.
They overly devoted fanbase of slightly overweight 50 year old men with beards who are into wholistic health foods and medicine and say shit like "yuppers" and "gee"
i always took dmb fans as more 90s frat guys who became insurance salesmen and think dmb is "wild" music they can "let loose" too while having a cocktail at applebees friday nights
>"whitest band in existence"
>half of them black, half white
>vocalist was born in south africa
Technically he is Afro-american.
Two Step's really good
It's a great band, with talented musicians but maybe the wrong fanbase.
Jeff Coffin is the shit by the way.. also Carter Beauford.
Clearly haven't listened to "Before These Crowded Streets"
This one is underrated
I don't know why mu hates dmb
After I watched this video it keeps recommending me Jimmy Fallon videos
Ugh, being from VA I hear so much about this band and they're deadhead like fan base. I like a couple of their songs and that's about it. Their singer used to go to school in charlottesville and used to be in some bar band before he/they got big.
Alright I'm gonna go get their discography from rutracker. Wish me luck
shut the fuck up you dont go outside or talk to anyone
Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King is unironically a great album. Maybe it's my nostalgia goggles but it reminds me of summer 2009 which was the best summer of my childhood and my parents played it in the car a lot. It's just a fun album.
Fuck off
btfo
This is true.
They're all ridiculously musically talented, I just think they get lumped into that 90's bunch of shit bands like Counting Crows or Blues Traveler or Spin Doctors that tried and failed to revive the 60's hippie thing. DMB had 2 or 3 legit classic albums and don't really deserve the hate.
the 90s started almost 30 years ago so both posts aren't mutually exclusive
Brandon larping like he's had a life again
The problem with the DMB is that their famous singles got overplayed douchebags.. but if you dig in a little is easy to find pretty nice songs, like Bartender, 41, Two steps, Dreaming tree etc.
Never heard of them.
Under the Table and Dreaming [RCA, 1994]
Popular groundswells do vary in discernment, as students of jogging, nail care salons, and tax limits know. Like his homeboy and forebear Bruce Hornsby, Matthews jams politely. His instrumentation invokes classical, jazz, and bluegrass niceties. And although one can understand the deep-seated impatience with agony-as-entertainment his renown reflects, he's as bland as a tofu sandwich. C+
Crash [RCA, 1996] *bomb*
