2018 Year of the Rock

BLS, COC & Fu Manchu have all put out some memorable albums already. More on the way from Clutch, The Sword, Sleep and who knows what else. Feels good, man.

Weedpecker III is fucking dank

Oh, man. Last track on Clone The Universe is so fucking trippy. I never expected doom or prog out of this band, then they have us this gem!

sleep is doing an adult swim single right? I have been waiting forever for that

Then there's all the bands on the road supporting albums from last year, like Mastodon.

I could smoke weed and eat pussy to this/10

REALLY eager to hear the new Clutch.

>"They're my favorite songs," he said of the new material. "At this point, we probably have more songs than we've ever had before going into the studio. The material is a little heavier. It has a more doomed-out vibe and feel.

This is gonna be on there. Also hearing leaks of a song about running for president that is pure gold.

Is it just a single or will they eventually drop a new album?

New album & tour, desu

I don't know any of these bands, but how many of them are not a blues rock band? That was always a revolution, wasn't it?

Has Doom became commercial?

Possibly. That would explain why there is never a thread running for it on Sup Forums anymore. Ya know Sup Forumstants have an aversion to anything that's been accepted by the general public. But it's not as if Doom is being heard on the radio...

...

I didn't even think COC and Fu Manchu existed anymore to be honest

They exist for sure. I saw COC with my own eyes to The V Club in Huntington, WV back in October.

...

I love this kind of music and welcome it's renaissance!

Dem fat RIFFS!

It is rather weird how doom has gotten so popular in the last few years but it's hard to complain because the scene is so diverse.
Sleep is making awesome heavy shit, you got Pallbearer with the melodic doom shit, you got Bell Witch with that slow oppressive shit.
It's a good time to be listening familia

Sleep is selling out shows quick now.

Yeah I snatched my ticket up for Boston as fast as I could with a pre-sale.
From an interview with Al:
>Who would you have played with back in the day?
AC: One of the things that was neat recently at the Roadburn Festival, Sleep and The Obsessed performed, and we played the same exact show together that we did for five bucks in 1993. And at the time no more than 40 people would've been there. Same guys, same bands. And almost the same songs. We played most of Holy Mountain, parts of Dopesmoker, Obsessed played most of Church Within.
