What reasons made you learn X language?

I just picked it up along the way from thousands of hours into vydiagaems, never intended to learn it properly.
I took 3 years of German in school bevause I hate the way Spanish sounds and I didn't care for French at the time.
Otherwise there has never been a need to learn another language

I was lucky enough to not have to learn another language next to english in middle school.
And in high school I picked Russian only because the other options were french (it's dumb), german (no thanks), and chinese (fucking lmao).
Out of the 4 russian seemed most useful. At least I can read russian memes and browse russian websites.

Since I started the three aforementioned ones on Duo I thought what the heck, I should finish these trees. I have done all the european ones. Eagerly waiting for Czech duolingo to get ready for me ( on site ). Must be some perfectionist not wanting to release it, lol. NOT QUITE READY YET.

Was offered the choice to learn Spanish or French in middle school. Seemed cool at that time. Promptly forget most stuff after I was out of school so I'm not fluent. Learned some good curse words from the Puerto Rican girls at work though. That's always fun.
Don't really know any other languages outside of few words or phrases in Japanese because
