Yes, I dated a girl who liked to listen to top 40 radio, maybe semi-ironically, but it was all the time. We had a legitimate fight about it on a road trip. I made her listen to my Blur cassette, and stuff.

Anyway, yeah, I'm seeing a girl now who's into a lot of more indie stuff, and it's great.

I don't have a girlfriend but this annoying girl who "likes" me likes Fiona Apple, Cat Power, St.Vincent

Music just plays such a big part of my life that I find it hard to relate to people who don't take music as seriously as I do sometimes. For someone as intimate as a girlfriend I would like to at least share some musical taste. Of course I have friends who aren't into music, or are only slightly into music, but if I want to seriously spend the rest of my life with someone I would like to talk about music I enjoy

I tend to pick girls with pretty good tastes in music, or at least girls that listen to artists that I don't necessarily listen to but don't mind hearing.

It's nice to have some kind of musical common ground, especially if you're passionate about music, but it's not a requirement. It's probably on par with having a similar taste in movies.

there was this girl that was like, indie but not obscure? i dont know how to explain it, shit like alt-j and a fuckton of synthpop artists. we saw each other for a while, so i cant call her my gf or even my ex, but it was weird. she and i were nearly identical as people and we appreciated similar things in music yet it just dragged her to different territory, somewhere along the way

my belief is that if you have a really genuine and loving relationship you're not going to regret any of it just because it hurts when it ends. i've been fucked up about my ex for a really long time and i don't think i'll ever really stop, but i'm still so grateful to have known her.

When I had a girlfriend, her music taste was fucking irritating. She unironically listened to trash like nightcore which really rustled my jimmies.
Aside from that, she could never just sit down and listen to some music, but instead it was always there as backround noise which I did not appreciate.

We go to concerts together all the time, there's an experimental music venue in my city that always has great stuff.

My best relationships I’ve had were with girls who were Artists in different capacities other than music.

The girls who had cool taste in music, to be quite frank..... were legitimately too fucked in the mind for me to have anything truly healthy and “real” with, no matter how hard I tried. They are good hook-ups though.

It's equal. I wouldn't actively look to be with a girl just to have a kid, just like I don't just hook up with any guy even if it's easier. And I don't really see "having a wife and kid" as the better option. I want a kid, but I also just want the right partner in life, whatever they are
