This and MBDTF are the only noteworthy hip-hop albums of the 2010s.
This and MBDTF are the only noteworthy hip-hop albums of the 2010s
Wrong answer
how how can you be so wrong
Not even remotely. MBDTF was tedious compared to GKMC and even Section.80. And if you compare it to TPAB... LOL don't even go there.
Replace it with The Money Store or Government Plates.
>MBDTF
5/10
>GKMC
6/10
Reminder: GKMC > TPAB
Its literally just another madlib collab. Tell me whats so groundbreaking about this project that his other projects havent done.
>Implying TPAB is better than GKMC
I'll give you this one.
This doesnt even come close to MBDTF or yeezus
>This doesnt even come close to MBDTF
>or yeezus
Yeah because GKMC is actually ok and isn't complete garbage.
hey anthony
Your opinion is bad
Based trips
I spent maybe a hundred hours playing Dark Souls with GKMC playing so now all the songs remind me of certain areas in Dark Souls
TPAB is worlds better than GKMC.
Kek where does Poetic Justice remind you of
>atrocity exhibition
>yeezus
>exmilitary
>pinata
>rodeo
>entire viper discog
checkmate, OP.
>Pinata
not influential or memorable at all
tell me what's groundbreaking about GKMC that wasn't done better in the 90s
Aged like milk in the sun
REMINDER: section 80>>>>>gkmc+tpab
that's what happened with Youth Lagoon and Bloodline Champions for me. Fuck
welcome to online music forums OP
am i the only one who thinks GKMC aged like trash? there's a few classic tracks on there but for the most part it's a dated piece of pop rap. especially the second half of the album, it's like kendrick had no clue what to do with the concept after Maad city
I'll tell you about TPAB instead.
Rap music always lacked a sort of self-awareness and introspection in favor of bravado, tough personas and some utterly aggressive narratives. It couldn't transcend the lies African Americans lived inside, and accept our inherent flaws while remaining optimistic for the future. Kanye tried to encapsulate the beauty of pride, confidence and godlike divinity, but ultimately failed due to his weak, unimaginative imagery that makes the likes of Tolkien, Rowling, and Lewis cringe. It failed to deliver a true fantasy, opting for moronic clichés and insipid, false ideas. To Pimp a Butterfly eschews its misleading visions, culminating in a visceral insight into the plight of African Americans. Although its lyricism was heavily rooted into the cruelty of reality, it conjured up imagery of a piercing arrow of light into the fragile orbs of the future, reveling in the scarred uncertainties of life. Ironically, TPAB managed to be more of a whimsical fantasy than MBDTF in that regard. It conveyed pride without excess, and showed the listener instead of telling, a fault Kanye always fell into. TPAB was a masterpiece in music, as it finally bridged the ravine between hip hop and art, and onto the rest of the universe.
10/10. The greatest album of the decade.
aight seriously what the fuck is with that album cover
horrorcore, user
no fucking way you are serious
XXX is more noteworthy and a better album
For albums? Sure
How about mixtapes?
>SGP - Blackland Radio
>Cheif Keef - Bftd 1&2, bang 1&2 and Almighty So
>Young Thug - Barter 6
>pic related
I don't know the difference between mixtapes and albums anymore
The skits are more fluid and tell a story supplemented by songs rather than kinda hint what the song may be about
NO
Sing about me I'm dying of thirst is timeless. But I do see your point
>comparing jk Rowling to tolkien or CS Lewis
Fucking no
And runaway alone blows the fuck out of tpab for its emotional delivery and musicality something Kendrick lacks. Also all of Kendricks points in the album are said better by Tupac himself and public enemy nothing new was added but it was better put, like how much a dollar cost.
...and you think that's something GKMC was the first album to do? Have you never listened to A Prince Among Thieves or Deltron 3030 or American Gangster?
That's a mixtape
also Dr. Octagon, MM.. FOOD, Ready To Die, Undun, etc.
>Rodeo
Agreed user. It’s production is some of the best in all of hip-hop, I love it’s atmosphere
this is fire. OP knows nothing
>American Gangster
Good taste OP, AG is underrated. Honestly might be Jays best album
Vince Staples, Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler the Creator, Travis Scott, Aesop Rock, Kendrick Lamar, De La Soul, Chance the Rapper. A lot of quality out there. Put in any effort you pleb.
Friendly reminder that UU is the peak of Kendricks career

GKMC would have been better if it included cartoon and cereal.
Actually it was Overly Dedicated
it's a fucking pasta
absolutely
just because it wasn't first doesn't mean it ain't great
oh the whole discography mate.
oh boi matey

overrated, still decent, but definitely not the best of the 2010s
this is the only good rap post ive seen all year
What would you put above it?
After a bit of consideration I think this was how I think I would rank them. There's some I still need to listen to that sound promising, would appreciate any recommendations.
here's what I plan on listening to:
injury reserve - floss
killer mike - r.a.p. music
lil ugly mane - mista thug isolation
nas - life is good
I also need to listen to Drake's albums and finish Death Grips
accidentally deleted a few numbers
Try FlatBush Zombies BetterOffDead mixtape and 3001
