The Beatles covered a few rock songs in the early days but were really more of a pop group.
Fuck off, you retarded mongoloid. Fall Out Boy is one of the greatest pop punk bands ever because of what they're not. Melodramatic fluff doesn't phase them, nor overwrought tears or sorrow. They brush the superficiality of life with irony and humor. Their lyrics revolve around cleverly designed, yet solid and intelligent ideas, often combining the absurdity of modern life with wit. Instead of foretelling the ideal relationship between adolescent lovers, they can turn them into masked dolphins floating in a basket of fingers. An introvert evolves antlers to mimic the wildlife. Fall Out Boy exemplifies the beauty of surrealism with the stupidity of common man; in this regard, they are highly attuned to the truth that life is essentially a never-ending joke. The same goes for the Gorillaz, who use offbeat characters to depict the silliness of life, such as zombies enslaving humans who don't understand their roe in society to the epic, topsy-turvy loops that pervade our everyday existence. Not only that, but they also know how to lament on the sadness that we'll never explore other realms. Feel Good Inc, with a melancholic chorus seeking for peace and idealism, becomes scrutinized by the rappers who seemingly mock 2D's quixotic nature. Gorillaz knows how to balance playfulness with introspection. These bands, for those reasons, are objectively part of the greatest bands of the 21st century. They both know what the definition of art is.
