What do we think of massive attack?
What do we think of massive attack?
8/10
soycore
Trip-hop was an incredible genre with production way ahead of its time.
One of the best if not the best groups within the genre anyone who hasn't listened to Mezzanine is doing themselves a massive disservice, my personal fav album.
Trip hop is such a terrible name for the genre. It makes it sound like it should have rap.
hard to imagine this album ever sounding dated
trip hop in general is pretty cozy
>hard to imagine this album ever sounding dated
pretty much
it's earned classic status
Agreed
What should it be called then?
massive attack-core
Moody millennium music
Why are massive attack so overrated?
Mezzanine is wonderful
Fav track: Group four
Least: Inertia Creeps
Angel, Mezzanine, Group Four are fucking amazing. I absolutely adore this whole album but the other Massive Attack stuff doesn't quite get to me.
I listened to prey for rain on youtube through random clicking, digging the fuck out of it. Which album sounds most like that?
You can't deny that unfinished sympathy is great though
How do they sound so contemporary even twenty years later?
heligoland
it started out as british rap actually
I thought that was grime
>Americans make terrible gangster shit
>Bongs try to copy them and end up making amazing timeless electronic music
Weird really.
Weird
Downtempo for sluts
Back when it came out it was called Downtempo
and heligoland was pretty damn good, although it wasn't as cohesive as mezzanine
well it frequently does ...
Really good. Had a few Chinese beers with Daddy G in a wetherspoons once, guys a fucking giant.
Not my personal favourite trip hop act/album but I have no qualms with it being the most celebrated as it is excellent and within the top tier of the genre.
It's from Heligoland.
Also listen to 'Girl I love you' from the same album. (That bass )
They're really good, but they're not the best. I think Dummy had better production for the most part if we're comparing mainstream records.
ok
Blue Lines? At least you can hear the jazz elements of what made trip-hop present in there.
I like their evolution desu. G and 3D both said doing the same thing each album would have killed the band. Its why Mushroom left, he wanted to stick to the same formula.
I love how theres so much variety in a MA Album, they always turn me on to new artists with their collabs, most recent being Ghostpoet
Ah yes, Massive Attack is my favorite band
