they don't need to. i mean what can they show us in the trailer that is gonna wow us? but as much as i want them to end the marketing here, we know they won't and a full trailer is probably coming in a month or so.

This, probably needs to go through a couple more focus groups to decide if they want it to be more comedic or more dark this time around.

I am interested and yet at the same time not feeling too hyped with this movie. The first is still one of the finest adventure movie i have seen and one of my all time favorite.

The second and third while not as good, is fun nonetheless. The fourth one is kinda disappointing, too much rehashing element from the first one. Though i think peoples here loved 4 more than 3.

I wish they could do something better than that, but i am afraid the 5th is about to be a rehash of the second movie.

I felt Will and Elizabeth's story being over and just letting Jack dick around the whole time was why 4 was a little on the weaker side, but since Will is confirmed for this new movie then I have hopes that it'll, at the very least, be better than 4. Also Javier Bardem as the villain, that's just promising in itself I think.

Jones, literally the best performance in both the second and third movie.

Though Barbossa comes close (before he becomes the 'good' guy) and i won't mind if you think he is the best.

Spaniard guy is not a villain, Sao Feng barely constitutes as a character, i might as well choose the Kraken.

Also, I rewatched them all on Netflix last month after not seeing them since release. Holy fuck did they butcher the character of Jack Sparrow. In the first movie, he was a little bit of a joker but mostly just came off like a cocky conman. Still was a badass throughout. In the other movies, they just turned the jokiness up to 11 and turned him into a total clown. Absolutely disgusting

I would've agreed, but 2 loses points for not having a clear ending. It was the worst case of sequel baiting I've seen to date. I was 12 or 13 when it came out and I remember the feeling of leaving a movie theater feeling cheated.

it still bugs me that they showed that one chinese girl getting shot in the head, It was the most violent scene in any of the movies.

It was a satisfying 2 and half hour movie that lead in to sequel. I felt cheated but i know love it as the true pirate kino it is.

the truth is that will's story with his father was actually one of the best things in the franchise and that's why 2 pulls slightly ahead of 1 (also because better villain)

Have you ever heard a movie being called "so bad that it's good"? Because this is exactly the case with the 4th one. And I have proof. Just look at the way everything is playing in Jack's hand. Ropes appear just off the edge of the screen, extras look away or get tangled in their own feet. This is simply magic.

I'm familiar with the concept but this is nothing more than frustrating.
And the rest of the two hours of the movie are not even that. Just bland nothing and cliches that lead nowhere and conjure no enthusiasm whatsoever.

I thought the same. Jack needs his straight man and the most obvious candidate in 4, Priest Guy, was ditched to the sidelines in favor of more quirky Jack-likes and showing off setpiece spectacle. Dead Man's Chest was already a sequel that ultimately revolved around Jack and it was much better than 4 because there was a purpose to it.

Priest Guy was the best new character since Davy Jones. He actually had depth and real motivations and conflicts. I'm so pissed that they killed him off.
