Aw hell yeah this album is so fucking great. I never see it posted here so good on you.

also lorca, if you haven't listened to it

Townes Van Zandt - s/t

love this album
lorca seems to be a more ambient version of starsailor, it's not hitting the same avant-jazz whatever chord that starsailor struck

How about my pic related?
I have a hard time picking favorites, but Cohen's first three studio albums are some of the best singer/songwriter albums of all time.

Leonard Cohen is NOT FOLK
he's great, but he's NOT FOLK

>Tangled Up in Blue (Bootleg 1-3 recording)
>Suzanne

his first three are his best, Songs of Love and Hate is probably the easiest to get into

GOAT

It's at least 8/10.

Please tell us unenlightened ones what folk is.

You have good taste, user.

I always thought of this album more as country, but I guess there are enough folk elements that it qualifies.

This

such an evil sounding album, reminds me of movies like Macbeth and The Witch

Bit of an odd one but I wonder, are there any folk albums which are totally serious (not a parody in any way nor self-aware) but are just about hideously mundane things because the singer has too-little life experience?
I ask this because Nick Drake was a very sheltered little boy but he managed to not let that seep into his lyrics too much, and even in early Dylan he sounded weathered

Amazing album

know any other albums like this by chance?

That's a bit more psychedelic than folk. But Buckley is a folk artist lol

KING

Some recommend Exuma (1970) . Where it sounds like a stripped down version of this and a lot of zombies.

It's Caribbean folk music.

Good choice. I fall alseep to this album often.

Anyone have a different/updated version of this chart?
