Could you share with me the chart for Debussy's works?
Caleb Carter
I don't personally have the chart, but I could go get it
Ayden Rogers
Best harpsichord pieces?
Zachary Ramirez
the smaller the better
Jordan Collins
I'm not new to Debussy, I play some of his easier pieces of the piano. I'm just wondering if it could expand my knowledge a bit.
Just, don't worry about it if it's too much of a hassle.
Evan Edwards
I'm still looking but I think it's just a chart like these are the albums/performance of a piece to check out, it doesn't really give any info if memory serves
A nice introduction. Do you have an orchestral piece to recommend?
Ethan Johnson
Is there any baroque music that matches the coloristic range of the Well-Tempered Clavier harmonically? It all sounds so superficial (I-IV-V and repeat) in comparison.
>Caring about which label a recording is on If it sounds good, I'm inclined to say a recording sounds good. Are you one of these people who dislike a performer based on their personality?
Logan Howard
Poly ECM is trash, they literally made this piece of shit
>implying contemporary classical is good and ECM jazz is anywhere near blue note, verve, impulse, prestige, Columbia or any other label that's dropped jazz gems of the 50s and 60's
Lincoln Jones
Who cares what other albums they made, pic related is gold.
I would have bought the Karajan one, but I would rather buy that with the complete Deutsche Grammophon box set and I can't afford to drop 8 hundo at the moment, $88 is more up my alley. Plus this is all the operas, not just the ring cycle
Josiah Harris
The only Decca album I like is this one. Haven't heard their Solti Wagner. I seem to remember /classical/ hating Solti - why was that again?
probably because /classical/ also loves Cage, I'd give the ring cycle a listen if you want. I haven't heard all his versions of the operas (that's why I'm excited to get this) but I love the ones I've heard. And Decca has some great shit from the 50s and 60s. Sylvia Sass has a great record of Verdi and Puccini selections and Lisitsa (more recently) has a solid Liszt album on the label. But the also have duds. Also decca is the only label that has a recording of, the all beit a bit disappointing, lost Funeral for Rimsky-Korsakov written by a young Igor Stravinsky (but the Rite on the album isn't half bad)
John Reed
Because his conducting is bad. Everything he does is bombastic.
Brody Rivera
>probably because /classical/ also loves Cage wut /classical/ considers poly a better composer, according to a recent poll
Matthew Lopez
>I'd give the ring cycle a listen inb4 Wagneranon
Jaxon Hall
>implying lots of romantic pieces aren't supposed to be bombastic ?
Nolan Scott
>>implying lots of romantic pieces aren't supposed to be bombastic t. pleb.
I hope not, then I'd be a good conductor and I barley know how to.
Ian Lewis
out of curiosity, shit post aside, who's the best ring cycle conductor if not Solti or Karajan, Bohm?
Jordan Baker
Bohm would be up there probably. As far as modern cycles Wagneranon talked highly of Janowski's. Keilberth would be a good contender too.
Cameron Diaz
I'll have to check out Janowski
Carter Gonzalez
anyone have experience buying instruments off ebay? i wanna get started on violin but i wanna see if i can luck out on getting something pretty good for cheap
The slower movements in Beethoven's late string quartets.
Logan Sullivan
Don't buy anything user. First find yourself a good teacher and start practicing with the instrument he/she will lend you. Think about buying your own when you feel the differences between the instruments and have your own preferred characteristics. Or just waste your money on an instrument you'll never be able to play on.
Does anyone know anything that sounds like the soundtrack of the Godfather?
Ayden Wilson
i fucking love Chopin
Jacob Sanchez
TIMES UP
Andrew Lopez
youtube.com/watch?v=PgIxknOerHk This recording of Arrau made me rethink my position towards his later recordings. He had that fierceness, that pathos, that I can't seem to find in his later Liszt recordings. His interpretations are undermined with neutrality.
