Sure, it's cheesy. But fuck you if you think it doesn't have aesthetics and great moments.

This film is a festering wart on the legacy of David Lynch

Is that her now?
Looks like a braless, better looking Jorja Fox from CSI.
alan smithee
ok so
why weren't there more of the emperors daughter? she was pretty fine
The kickass soundtrack is the best thing about the movie.
I love the Dune Book
I love David Lynch
I was laughing at Dune.
This film is supposed to be messianic, and Lynch just completely missed the point of it.
Dune is a shitty story
>blaming lynch
>no blaming dino de laurentiis
shit. i'd like to feel the sting of that gom jabbar if you catch my drift
did you ever read "The Making of Dune"? David Lynch had a bunch of Fremen sitting around a machine that was on stilts, going up and down like a merry-go-round - something to do with that stupid "weirding module" - and the principal photographer Freddie Francis remarked "David, do you want some fairground music to go with that?"
also Lynch asked the lighting guys to correct some shadows that weren't supposed to be there, "Quick, or Freddie will want to film them."
"I would, too," Freddie said.
dat heterochromia. hnnng

1/10 since I replied.
For you.
>Defending a shit novel written by a hack author stealing things from elsewhere
disgusting. have a (you).
If I were an illiterate I'd be some faggy bandwagoner proclaiming the genius of Dune rather than having found it to be shitty, wouldn't I?
>1965 book
>HE STOLE
kek, keep going.
touche. I'll remove the "illiterate".
you're still a faggot, however.
Could not stop laughing throughout this, it was hilariously bad.
He did. Stole it from the guys who made 40k. They met in a bar in the early 60's, had a bet.
>publish a books 20 years before a autistic board game.
>"stealing"

Fucking ULTIMATE WEW.
...but with love.
>Paul ordered the use of nukes against the Emperor
>He initiated a violent jihad that killed billions
>He is the sympathetic protagonist
>Melange spice has nothing to do with marijuana
>the film is fascinating, but flawed, funny, and nothing compared to the book--no one claimed it was good overall
Wanna know how I know you're a FAGGOT?
Crysknife edge...
Kull wahad!
I never said the film was about marijuana or there was no death, just that he was like that as a person. It leaks through occasionally.
>MUH SHIELDS
>MUH NUKES
The only reason Dune is liked is the politics.
BTFO, hahahaha, you might as well leave.
how can you remain in this thread with so much shame???
You OK user? We're all friends here. If you don't want to discuss, don't reply. Dune is very mediocre, it's main draw is it's enjoyable politics and how the characters fit in it.
It's a bit like Legends of the Galactic Heroes; it's loved because of the characters and politics, not because it's a unique story and super amazing or whatever.
Or Starship Troopers, the book is 60% sitting in a classroom, while the film goes balls to the walls with cool action and shit. They're not amazing films, they're liked for certain aspects.
I like the little American Weird stuff that Lynch had already developed in his own artistic language, and how he inserts same into the movie.
The Guild dudes who wipe up after the navigator are basically janitors in some room, somewhere, back when. The Sardukar are basically dude in welding masks (that flat panel). But below is better.
A great example of this is the two techs working on the Baron's face in an early scene. A tech says "Put the pick in there, pete... and turn it round... REAL NEAT." This is like a little nursery rhyme/fairy tale thing that Lynch put in, and it sounds like a billboard too, or something. It sounds vaguely weird, simple, and the monosyllaby of it makes it sound like some American slogan for a 50s jingle, the type of thing Lynch grew up with. This type of language is on much fuller display in Blue Velvet, with much more obvious Americana themes this time.
>the ol' I'm assravaged, but I'll play it cool and feign concern for my dominator
Typical Tricks, Schlomo.
Dune could quite comfortably fit in the 40k canon as the late dark age of technology just after the men of Iron are defeated
>Defending a shit novel written by a hack author
Literally voted best trilogy by SF fans, over Lord of the Rings.
Author knew his stuff regarding mythological heroes, e.g. satisfying multiple prophecies from various traditions.
>After all, it's no Dragon Ball Z novelization.
This I grant.
