Need punk and or rock

Hey Sup Forums I need your help. I've spent the last 2 years listening to funk and indie and I really wanna start listening to, and playing, punk and rock. I could use a few good bands.

If you already know the Clash then that's all you need. Punk is full of misogynists and degenerates. The Clash are actually good though for a white band.

Kek, punk is one of the most open to all people, egalitarian genres ever. At least in ethics/theory, in reality there are a lot of misogynists/degenerates in the scene. But some great music anyway.

Listen to Minor Threat, Hüsker Dü, Minutemen, Fugazi, and Hot Snakes

Minor threat

bad brains and minor threat are a good starting point for 80s hardcore. if you want first wave 70s stuff check out the adicts and the damned. maybe poison idea, gwar and the minutemen if you want more of a hybrid punk / hard rock sound.

punks kind of like metal where there are tons sub genres i guess.

descendents

Post punk > punk

Haram

to hijack the thread, any recommendations for some crust/dbeat?

Listen to their first 5 records

Green Day are great. One of the best to be honest.

hellbastard
amebix
gism
deviated instinct
discharge
the varukers

Not every punk band is GG Allin.
Many punk bands support feminism, and many are even LGBTQ friendly.

Ask me anything, and I can recommend some great punk bands that are neither misogynistic or degenerate. I can even recommend some good punk bands that are openly gay, have a female lead singer or both.

>Or have you never heard of G.L.O.S.S. for example?

also if you like crust you probably want to check out crossover thrash too

mmm. daddy likey

Ignore the fatass tumblrinas and start with the early bands. Stooges, Buzzcocks, Dead Boys, Sex Pistols, the Damned. Figure out what kinda sound you like and go from there. There's lots of good 77 stuff from the UK and the US that can hold you over for a while.

>no germs

thanks! i am emtional moved by your kindness!
i did not make that one, i think i should make another scandinavian core chart, i always get soo many "i cant believe you dont have X" statements

It's a garbage list, looks like it was compiled by Rolling Stone magazine in 2005.

>The Names - Swimming

Great obscure pick, never seen it on any charts but as a post-punk die hard I can say it's one of the most underrated albums in the genre.

los crudos were the band that opened my eyes to crust. theyre mexicrust but were from chicago i think. the vocalist left and started a fagcrust band called xlimpwristx that wasnt that bad

since post punk always get brought up i thought i would show them some love
looks like a "south americancore" chart is needed!

i always loved the justaposition of how intelligent and poetic his lyrics were compared to how of a garbled mess that came out when he tried to sing them

The Clash is probably my favorite overall band, so they're a great place to start.
Some other great bands:
Rancid
Operation Ivy
Dead Kennedys
Minutemen
Sex Pistols
Buzzcocks
Fang
Stiff little fingers

>Are you in this band? You were shilling them yesterday. They're not very good.

no and uhhh.... FUCK YOU JOE BIDEN GOES FUCKING HARD user
