What's better stand up or improv?

What's better stand up or improv?

improv is usually stand-up, faggot. The problem with standup is that they usually reuse the same routine, so there's no reason to go watch the same fag twice. The problem with improv is that it's usually not funny.

With comedians, they usually have a set course, and then cut-away moments where they can interject new material, or improve.

Routines are rarely identical.

Stupid auto-correct.

>auto-correct

Mobile poster huh? Fucking piece of shit. Let me guess your mommy won't let you use the computer cause she keeps catching you fapping to animals? Fuck you.

>mobile posters

No.

>No.

You can't lie to me boy.

...

>no funny tabs
You had one job, fag

Why the fuck don't you have adblock

Some people really are so stupid that they enable auto-correct on their desktops.

Funny how the one post replying to the mobile poster is hidden

>Internet Explorer

kys

It's better than being the retard who turns it off and then gets automatically insulted for misspelling something.

>IE
>no adblock
>steam
>bittorrent
Took a good look, this is who you argue about superhero movies with

>being so insecure that people are going to insult you that you literally turn on autocorrect for your fucking computer

Jesus

Proofread your posts, then. You can have spellcheck on without autocorrect. That way you always catch your typos but the computer never fixes non-words or intentional misspellings into words you didn't want to use.

There, that better?

Magic is already gone, just stop trying

the true skill of improv is to 'yes and' endlessly and forever and stick with it

it is very scary and difficult

any comedian improvises but they get back on the track they know and love. not like we blame them, that's why we love a talk show host or standup. we love their character and who they are

most people who do improv suck and do find themselves back in their comfort zone time and time again. their characters are always aggressive, or sarcastic, or befuddled, or a truly 'skilled' improviser will find themselves back to that SWELL character they came up with one time in the shower

one's not better than the other. you could take someone skilled at improv and skilled at standup and they will probably suck terribly at the other thing. writing jokes and working with the crowd is a skill. finding the game and saying 'yes and' is a skill. they don't translate at all, really.

>Bing

Christ it just keeps getting more embarrassing for you.

Wow it's really easy to derail threads on Sup Forums

Bing has a better search engine for porn videos.

What, do you use Jewgle?

>Bing has a better search engine for porn videos.
This is absolutely true. It's wonderful.

Thirded but it only works well if you know what you're looking for.

OP here

>start a thread with the intent to discuss improv, stand up, comedy in general ect.
>get a call from work and have to be down there right now
>go and be gone for 2 hours
>come back home and see this

never change Sup Forums

Ok.

>comedy genre

>Choosing between trash and hot trash

If 'better' means 'funnier' for the audience, then obviously Stand-up wins.

Stand-up is comedy in its purest form. A performance refined over months or years of audience feedback.

Beyond that, there is a personality difference. Stand-up comics tend to be cynical, misanthropic, philosophical, and politically incorrect. Improv people tend to be optimistic, philanthropic, gregarious, and emotionally available.

Improv is something that almost anyone can learn to do if they're not autistic.

Stand-up is something that with enough practice any innately funny person can do even if they're autistic.

Two different cultures, united by levity.

it's not that simple of a comparison. First, there is short form vs long form improv. Second, there's MANY different kinds of stand up.

hahahahha

improv is gay

I like observational comedy, but it sucks that most stand-up I've seen is basically

>lol i'm so fat right? here's a lot of fat jokes
>lol yeah i'm so queer, hear my queer jokes
>lol we men/women are like this, right?

etc

>most stand-up I've seen

Are you asking for recommendations, user?

Oh, no, I've seen good comedians online. I'm talking about shows I've been to locally (which I guess is like, yeah, what did I expect...)

I'm guessing you don't live near a major city, globally speaking.

depends on the performance
