Pearl Jam Unplugged

Why wasn't this on par with Nirvana and Alice In Chains?

bc doesn't exist an official release of pearl jam's unplugged

Because the media only cared about Nirvana

Because Pearl Jam sucks.

They didn't try to make it intimate or beautiful; it was just another performance except without distortion.

Because they just played the songs exactly the same as they would if it were "plugged"
They put in no extra thought into reshaping the songs to fit the acoustic setting.
AIC already has a bunch of acoustic songs that worked, but songs like Would? fell into the same trap though.
Nirvana just played a bunch of covers to avoid this problem.

Media was obsessed with PJ/Eddie though. Maybe not at the time that this unplugged was filmed, but by '93 they were definitely more interested in PJ, as they were selling more albums, playing more shows, showing more of the "social consciousness" BS. Whereas the meme of "Is Kurt and Courtney's baby going to come out deformed or not?" meme died out.

Ironically Time magazine was gonna give Kurt the spot, but couldn't do it in time, so they went with Eddie.

Cause it was not as good as Nirvana's or Alice in Chains'

The STP unplugged session is the best.

So utterly underrated.

Unironically this.

Not as good of a band

This is....nice

they offered them both, they both declined, and they picked eddie for whatever reason and he got mad.

this. also the unplugged idea is a shitshow anyway if your music is anything but acoustic folk tunes.

probably cause they felt eddie really didn't care but kurt would be fuming about it in the press if they had used his picture without authorization. kurt was not dumb about lawyering up.

>No mention of Benaroya Hall

This song is 3 minutes too long. Talk about repetitive. Fuck. Fast forward a minute its the same part, next minute same part. The delio bros really stepped up their game by purple in the writing department.
