>A single person tries to do all of the music, lyrics, vocals, and production
Why is this always awful?
A single person tries to do all of the music, lyrics, vocals, and production
Why are you always awful dumb frogposter?
Of course the combined labor of several artists would more often deliver better music than what one person can do, but at least it has potential to be more introspective and artistic
But Visions by Grimes is great user.
kate bush isn't awful
>kate bush isn't awful
my nigga
>Of course the combined labor of several artists would more often deliver better music than what one person can do
Then why do they even try?
Because of the potential? You're saying that out of 8 billion people on this planet not a single one has ever made a great record all on their own? You're super misillusioned
why the fuck not?
>what is auteur theory
L
No Now is one of the best albums of the decade
Everything Phil has made is awful-

But Bjork isn't awful :^)

I mean if you're an autistic furry then yeah.
Less ongoing feedback if you work alone
who is it?
he instantly became 400% better when he got a band though
*blocks your path*
Except for the ones that aren't awful and untalented, you mean? I have no idea either.
Incorrect incorrect.
if the person is talented
and autistic
enough, the output can be phenomenal, but you have to be reallyyy good. it's called being an auteur. i love musicians who say "fuck you i'll make whatever kind of art i wanna fucking make" but it takes a special set of circumstances for it to not come off as jerking themselves off, especially if it's just one dude. there usually has to be another reason, like being a fucking autist like that dude from the mountain goats
he has a ton of people help tho
readu 4 suf podst ing
> Nine Inch Nails
> Fiona Apple
> Burzum
> Danny Brown
> Elliott Smith
> Bob Dylan
Why is OP such a colossal faggot?
>Alcest
Elliott Smith did not do all his stuffs
he at least had an engineer or two
Sufjan always has people contributing, though. Don't get me wrong, Sufjan is a saint and a blessing. But he's always doing secret collabs.
>Danny Brown
wtf are you talking about
When is someone gonna post a good album. Not even asking for amazing, or great, just GOOD
Prince did it a few times including his first album and it mostly turns out well
Any reason why you can't just quit?
-ly beautiful
>Then why do they even try?
Because when a single person does it they did it all on their own. There's something awesome and special about that even if it doesn't come out "perfect" by your standards. But you wouldn't understand because you made this thread because you're a dumbass.
I already agreed to it, so it would fuck him over if I ditched it, but I feel fucked over because it's all complicated as fuck, and not fun to play because it makes my head fucking hurt and consumes my life learning all the nuances of the drumming
doesn't Trent Reznor do everything in Nine Inch Nails?
You should quit if it makes you feel that bad. Or share your frustrations with your friend
Pretty sure Tori solo produced and penned Boys for Pele. Just some added instrumentation apart from the piano she mayy not have written herself idk
this
not this
Other than mastering, there's nothing wrong with making an album on your own.
Yup. There's something really noble and intimate about an album that was written/recorded/produced by one person. Then on the flip-side you have modern-day hip hop artists who are hailed as geniuses - yet they have about 50 writers/performers/producers on each album. No matter the result it makes it hard to take a project seriously that requires that many people.
I thought Devin townsend does a pretty amazing job
It was more or less all Billy except for the drums.
he's a good arranger and composer but his lyrics are hot trash
where do I find band mates? should I use Tinder?
this is OP's case in point
This thread isn't even really worth acknowledging but here's your (OP) nonetheless you stupid frogposter.
I'm going to mention Paysage d'Hiver, again, because it's pretty much the best music on the planet.
this goy gets it
>Foo Fighters is the debut studio album by American rock band Foo Fighters, released on July 4, 1995, by Capitol Records through Dave Grohl's label Roswell. Grohl wrote and recorded the entire album himself
