>red title
>the last Jedi
They're going to copy Empire in order to follow the "dark sequel" trend aren't they? Will it be the edgiest Star Wars yet? I mean they can find a way to top killing younglings right?

raping younglings

BLACKED

theres going to be a struggle with Finn going back to the empire to be with his storm troop bros

Good you fucking idiot. The best possible thing they could do is just 1:1 ape the old trilogy. If you think differently you are a dumbass.

Rian Johnson has already said the movie isn't going to be dark.

>edgy

Director Rian Johnnson:
Brick
The Brothers Bloom
Looper
A handful of Breaking Bad episodes.

You're in good hands.

Rey is on the path to the dark side, Kylo Ren will be the redeemed one by episode 9.

>tfw 30 min long Rey /ss/ scene

They could "rape" Rae

Kylo is Vader dummy.

What is the single greatest thing Vader ever did?

Kill the Emperor. Snook is a dumbass and his Vader worship conditioning is going to back fire.

Assuming they keep up with established Star Wars lore, red titles mean Darth Maul will feature.

>The Return of the Jedi
>1 film later
>The Last Jedi

>The best possible thing they could do is just 1:1 ape the old trilogy. If you think differently you are a dumbass.
If you were a fan of the OT you wouldn't spout shit like that.

How so? I want the OT reivented to appeal to the current generation and that is exactly what we are getting.

That is the only way to preserve the quality. Just look at the prequels to see what happens when you stray from that.

Is he still alive in the cartoons?

>The Last Jedi
>Luke dies
it's like pottery

>condition your apprentice to love the man who overthrew the last Empire
>leave out the part about him overthrowing the last Empire
>Your apprentice is the nephew of the man who was there to watch Vader overthrow the Empire

Really makes you think.

>the OT reivented to appeal to the current generation
That's not something a human being would say. You actually sound like a shill. Kill yourself. The OT doesn't need to be (((reinvented))) for Star Wars to do well with "the current generation". TFA damages the OT.

You just sound autistic mate. Yes it does. Get over it.

JJ pls go

>remove crawl from Rogue One
>change color of logo
What's next? Danny Elfman scores the film?

>the current generation needs to be appealed too
Good films will appeal to everyone, no matter the age.

"So here I am -- after all these star wars -- the last jedi."

New things appeal to people. You aren't going to get millions of people interested in movies that have been out for decades.

You have to release something new to get their attention. That is how it works.

The force will just spontaneously create a new force sensitive.

which won't make them a jedi

>The Last Jedi
it just totally cheapens the OT. The whole point was the Jedi returning after Sheev destroyed them, and now apparently 20 years later we're at the last ones (again)? It's a cop-out.

>You just sound autistic
Oh so a normal person not on the spectrum says shit like "I want the OT reinvented to appeal to the current generation"

Huh, interesting

The Force has a will, and if it is out of balance it will lead them down the path of the Jedi or the Sith.

The Jedi are constantly being destroyed and rebuilt. It ties in with the constant struggle of the force.

One side overtakes the other and then the other side overtakes them and then they are both in balance for a bit.

DARTH MAUL IS THE LAST JEDI CONFIRMED!!!

People all pay to see it because it's "new" and they have an investment in the brand and it will make plenty of money, but outside of generating profits these films have zero value. It's just disposable nostalgia. No new worlds or memorable characters that people will still care about 40 years down the line. There is no vision here, they are barely films at all. More like annual feature length commercials intended to keep the larger franchise brand in the public consciousness.

Who cares.

You are all going to pay money to go and see it.

That's all that matters.
>"n...n...no I won't, I'll wait for it to go to netflix!!!!"

No you won't you lying shit, you'll watch it in the cinema.

>second act is going to be dark
>This is surprising for some people

Filmmaking 100 should be a prerequisite for posting on Sup Forums

And what is wrong with that?

Also Kylo Ren is a pretty damn good character if they play him right.

They can't kill Luke. He's THE movie protagonist.
R-right?

>Kylo Ren is a pretty damn good character if they play him right.

Ahahahahahahahahahaha! Ohhh fuck. I hate new Star Wars fans...pathetic.

That scene in TFA was a force vision. It'll happen in TLJ. Kylo Ren and his gang will murder Luke Obi Wan style while Rey flees. If you pause the scene you can clearly see Kylo with metal arms armor, which he did not have in TFA.

Focus tested pandering product is the least interesting thing a film can be. If you can keep getting joy from your big macs for the rest of your life without desiring anything more from the medium go ahead.

>If you pause the scene you can clearly see Kylo with metal arms armor
No you can't.

Yes you can. Go watch it again. He has TWS style metal armor on his arms.

Why even comment and say "nuh uh!" before you look?

Yes, definitely, absolutely

Bro it is a summer action blockbuster.

Yes some movies are meant to be deep and impactful but not every movie needs to be that.

You're why the world is going to Hell in a handbasket.

Cause I'm realistic about the medium?

Plebs need movies too user. If movies were only made for patricians the industry would be dead.

What was wrong with the character?

He's poorly written, poorly acted, and is an embarrassment for the series.

Just checked. He doesn't have metal arms, he has a cape that kinda mimics Vader's gorget/pauldron combo.

>That scene in TFA was a force vision
what scene
The scene where Kylo stabs someone about to hit Rey?

Because that's the only force vision with Kylo and it had nothing to do with Luke

Look at his left arm. Also my point still stands, different armor and clearly a force vision from the next movie.

See

I'm fine with summer blockbusters so long as they add something new to the genre and don't just lazily coast by on nostalgia and brand recongiton. Once the marketing cycle dies down and the tentpole blockbuster hype is gone you're left with 2 hours of movie that does absolutely nothing to justify its existence.

It's not different armor and it was already said in some commentary that it's a flashback to when the Jedi order fell after Kylo defected

that would explain why those guys aren't present in TFA

He has the mask which was destroyed with starkiller base

and a few seconds after that when he walks toward the camera his armor looks the same as TFA

I'm looking at his left arm. That's his regular frilly sleeve, it's just wet and a bit shiny because of the rain.

Yeah, dude. Look at this. This is a perfect character not like Kylo.

Still fail to see the relevance of Luke, but I do see hundreds of other dead bodies lying around as in Bro are you having a stroke?

Well I liked Adam Driver. And he has more depth than any of the villains in ANH had.

>and is an embarrassment
Nah m8

>And he has more depth than any of the villains in ANH had.
for all its flaws this is where TFA shone, Darth Vader really only became complex in the 6th film/prequels.

>Plebs need movies too user
You can make accessible movies that aren't just beat for beat recreations of other existing films. Especially in the case of star wars. This was a pre-sold event film based purely on the star wars episode 7 title alone, they could have made absolutely anything they wanted and it would have been the biggest film of the year regardless. And with this freedom of creation they made a remake of A New Hope. If that isn't inherently disappointing to you then I don't think you care about movies in the first place.

>the new trilogy is going to be exactly the same as the original trilogy except for diverse cast vs white male supremacists in space with nostalgia bombs for 'nerds' to cum over
>by the time the trilogy ends in 6 years people will be ready for another cut and paste trilogy

I mean this in the least memey way possible, but what the fuck is the Siths problem ?

Low point is different than "dark and edgy". Also it's the second part of a trilogy, not an "act" retard. This is not a fucking theater play.

>it's a flashback to when the Jedi order fell after Kylo defected
Is Kylo like Donald Trump's son where he was like 6 feet tall at 10 years old?

>"After all this time, I have finally become Star The Last Jedi Wars™"

Who /REYLO/ here?

but what about the writers?

Kylo was in his teens when he shot up the Jedi academy. Now he's like late 20s early 30s? Still a manchild though.

that's the best guess of a timeline I can make, given that Rey was (presumably) dumped on Jakku after that happened and was 5-10, and is now late teens/early twenties

>This is not a fucking theater play

It kinda is, the way it's laid out.

Writer. Rian Johnson:
Brick
The Brothers Bloom
Looper

>the next trilogy will be poetry mirroring of the prequals
glorious

This is a Disney product first and foremost. You might get some directorial flourishes around the edges, unconventional camera angles, some fun well executed self contained set pieces but it's still going to be following Disney's rehash roadmap so all the little touches will do is make you wish you were watching a version of this film that was a real movie instead of corporate bullshit.

Same deal every time they absorb an acclaimed director into their machine. The flashes of vision they managed to achieve within their confines only make the grey mass that is the rest of the movie more depressing.

...

kylos like 30 in force awakens, he was either in his late teens or early twentys when he joined Snoke

jesus they'll let anyone direct one of these.

The formula is reddit meme directors who are trendy enough to make the film marketable to movie fans but not so powerful in the industry that they won't do Disney's every bidding.

>mirrors the prequels... by being prequels

>You aren't going to get millions of people interested in movies that have been out for decades
Then why are we trying to get millions of people interested in franchises that have been out for decades instead of making new ones?

When was the last time there was a blockbuster that wasn't based on a pre-existing franchise that wasn't a box office bomb?

Avatar?

>The formula is reddit meme directors who are trendy enough to make the film marketable to movie fans but not so powerful in the industry that they won't do Disney's every bidding.
a shame here's hoping they'll get someone talented for one of the spinoffs or the next trillogy

From the perspective of the normie "movie buff" who watches the films that are rated highly on rotten tomatoes and then upvotes them on reddit, these are the "talented" directors.

>They're going to copy Empire in order to follow the "dark sequel" trend aren't they?
The director already said he wants the movie to be a fun roller coaster ride like Force Awakens (yeah he said that) which is making me extremely nervous

Episode 7 should have been called the Last Jedi and it should have been centered around Luke, Han, Leia and Kylo.

Episode 8 then could be about Finn and Rey

But JJ Abrams had to go and fuck it up

I did a search of the top 10 grossing movies of each year since 2010 and these were the only ones that were original (not based on an old story or part of a franchise or existing IP)

>The Secret Life of Pets
>Zootopia
>Inside Out
>Gravity
>Brave
>Ted
>Avatar
>Inception
>Despicable Me

Post #1, please look at Post #2

Sincerely, your newest friend, Post #3

Anyone noticed how neither Force Awakens nor The Last Jedi are not being referred to as Episodes on the posters?

Yet they are in the opening crawl

>these are the "talented" directors.
clearly the series is fucked then

Yes, unfortunately

Episode 9 will be directed by the guy who did Jurassic World.

What a bad decision

The guy who directed Arrival should have made it

>The flashes of vision they managed to achieve within their confines only make the grey mass that is the rest of the movie more depressing.
Please give some examples of flashes of brilliance in crappy movies?

>The guy who directed Arrival should have made it
Disney doesn't want good directors they wan ones who will bend the knee

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Should have gotten that guy that directed Dune.

Rian will be writing Episode 9 though I think so Jurassic World dude won't be able to make it his way so at least that's some good news I guess

>After his decision to include the military using Dinosaurs in Iraq, he doesn't deserve to write Episode 9

What does this have to do with anything?

isn't poe white?

One example would suffice
