Depends on the story. One is that, one is Athenian chick told him to while he was wasted, one he was just wasted by himself.

Buddy the only good things to come out of arabic Islam was because of persians (Ie Islamic golden age). My people were fucking subjugated, massacred and had their libraries burned.
And still are the one nation to not get arabized when invaded

Turkish girls will clean shit off your cock up them assess ... How roach is that .. ???

He burned it as revenge for the burning of the Acropolis of Athens.

I know b. I was dispelling the myth that he destroyed all of persepolis

Out of reach as it may be, I respect Iran from afar. I feel some regret that I'm not able to appreciate and interact with it more directly, but I love that it remains one of the last strongholds against globalisation.

I think Islam has something to do with the conservation of its unique culture. They are very Islamic, but in a different way from Arabs. They Iranified Islam and used some of its good, conservative qualities to ensure the future of their culture.

It's interesting. It would be great if Iran opened up to the rest of the world, but maybe not at the moment. The current trend of globalisation is quite toxic, not to mention contagious.

Iran also has a high degree of identity. The Arabs in Iran ran out to fight when saddam invaded. They saw being iranian as above being Arab.

Kurds turks persians lurs azeris Arabs, all living in one country, all seeing iranianhood as key. It's why we haven't been Balkanized

Spartans were Macedonians?

guys
memes am I right?
right?

Ironically, Macedonia was the end of Sparta as a cultural and power centre. While Athens continued being a major city well into Hellenistic and Roman times, after losing to the Macedons a couple times, Spartan calmed the fuck down and was more passive until contemporary days. Still interesting to see how they remained somewhat distinct though. The Doric dialect remains to this day (though Tsakonian almost dying) and Maniotes continually conserved the more aggressive Laconian culture to this day.

My ancestor was Plato's sex boy

Yeah Sparta didn't have much culture in the Athenian sense. They were a martial society. You could say proto- fascist. Eventually continuous war + the superior Macedonian phalanx got them.

I am now a #GreekMissile

Sparta was already long irrelevant by the time of the rise of Macedon. Sparta lost a war against Thebes after the Peloponnesian Wars many many years earlier and never came back.

Laconians weren't aggressive at all these is a meme. The only reason why Spartans were considered decent soldiers among the Hellenes was that they were the only city-state to have a professional trained army at all. But that was only until after the Greco-Persian Wars then other city states had the same, like Macedon

Sparta is literally a hollywood meme from the Roman times

No. The Macedonians never conquered Sparta, they didn't bother to. The Spartans were defeated by the Thebes. What defeated the Spartans were that they were very rigid and predictable and Thebes used that in their fight against them

PAY DENBTS

I was talking about this. Not conquer in the sense enter the city and pillage it.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Megalopolis

Sparta was effectively ended as a major power by Thebes, but Battle of Megalopolis sealed the deal. It's one of the most pathetic attempts to regain power in history, because they joined forces with Persians, but still got humiliated by the Macedonians.

Romans and Greeks of the later eras romanticised Spartans and remembered them for their finer qualities, so you're right that they were a "Hollywood meme". Still, this romantic and "meme" version of Sparta inspired the Maniots to ignite the Greek War of Independence, so I really appreciate it.

Prep the bull!

Can I come to your country?
