He may be good but you just can't cast good looking black guy, that looks like 30 yo as an autistic, pale, british teenager. And this is the most beloved character from the series, so it's not like you can just change everything.

it is not jus shitty because he looks different from . This is as point for sure, although not a big one.
But he looks like a generic henchman in promo pics. This is not what L is about. L is purposefully plain, but also a surreal character. He is too clean already. He looks too different.
Will he act like L? I actually doubt that, there was a screenshot not too long ago where a fan asked him what the differences would be of him playing L. He said, "im black"

The director was already talking about gore, action scenes and violence to "let it feel like original Death Note", what the hell did he watch? Also they probably would make Misa or "Mia" here very smart and useful, because here being a dumb bimbo won't go in today's Hollywood. I won't watch it, but maybe at least the shitstorm will be decent.
