What is this board's opinion on the Beatles?
What is this board's opinion on the Beatles?
They’re great. I can listen to them exclusively every day for the rest of my life simply because of the diversity among their albums (not an inherently good quality though).
Ain't always that fantastic, you know, some of the albums people say are great kinda seem redundant. Though I have a great respect for the effort and artistry they brought to the music scene at the time.
THE
FACT
THAT
Abbey Road is really bad.
Help! is underrated
Revolver is their best, but every album would've been better without that Indian shit Harrison loved at the time.
Unironically the greatest band of all time
IS
One of the best bands of all time
this.
and the best albums are revolver, abbey road and the white album.
amazing. Abbey Road is their masterpiece. Everything from A Hard Day's Night onward was great
Greetings newfriend. Help us indeed underrated, but Abbey Road ain’t bad at all. Revolver is not their best album (see Good Day Sunshine), Rubber Soul is. The Indian shit is good, with Within You Without You being the best track on Pepper’s.
In my opinion the only thing objective about music is that The Beatles are GOAT
>Within You Without You being the best track on Pepper’s.
let's not say things we can't take back
I'm a fan
Question: Is Misery supposed to be ironically upbeat? Because I don't think I could possibly feel miserable while listening to it. There's such dissonance between the tone and lyrics that it makes me think it's intentional, but I don't see what the point of that would be and it seems like too sophisticated a concept for an album like Please Please Me anyway.
You have the Apple Jam split off from the main album? I was thinking of doing that so I can listen to All Things Must Pass without wasting 30 minutes listening to that shit but at the same time not triggering my autism by deleting songs.
I like the album art, and it let me get to 110 which made a square. So yes, autism.
Apple Jam is at the end of the album anyway so just stop the album after the last main song.
Abbey Road took me time but it’s pretty fantastic. It may sound tame compared to Revolver but the medley is great once you think of it more as one piece of music instead of a collection of short songs.
>but the medley is great once you think of it more as one piece of music instead of a collection of short songs.
uhm.. that's what a medley is
>110
>square
Not autistic enough.
Well yeah, but I mean I used to have a negative opinion of it because the individual songs weren’t that special and thought that other albums had done that sort of thing better. When I realized how well it flowed is when it clicked for me.
See you in 11 albums
>When I realized how well it flowed is when it clicked for me.
how did it have to click or how did you have to realize it flowed? do your ears work?
What are your thoughts on George’s stuff post Living in the Material World? I love All Things Must Pass and LITMW but I listened to Dark Horse, Extra Texture, and 33 1/3 a while ago but they didn’t really do anything for me.
peaked at rubber soul
Pretty much everything they've done has been great
My favorite band. Rubber Soul through Abbey Road may be the best streak in music (Bowie 1976-1980 comes close though)
>start off making teenage girl garbage
>make generic pop with le wacky psych sound effects
>make music that only old women would listen to
>call them the greatest rock band ever
>the medley is great once you think of it more as one piece of music instead of a collection of short songs
You mean how I thought of it the first time I heard it like 15 years ago?
Yeah, sure, the medley is pretty good. Everytime someone defends Abbey Road, it's the medley they point to. It's good, it's not great. Side 1 is absolutely terrible.
>Within You Without You being the best track on Pepper’s.
Even if A Day in the Life didn't exist, this opinion is 5 miles above contrarianism.
Not as good obviously but I still enjoyed them. Brainwashed was a pleasant surprise. Shame it had to be his last.
They are my favorite band
What albums do you consider redundant ?
my nigga
>he doesn't enjoy Harrison's Indian autism
I can't imagine listening to Revolver without Love You To and Tomorrow Never Knows.
>The Supremes - A Bit of Liverpool
I didn't know this existed and it's pretty cool.
the only band to get better with every album
HaVe YoU gUyS hEaRd Of DeAtH gRiPs?
>carnival of light
unironically this. Hey George Martin I want some wacky cool horns in this song because I heard some other band do it much better than we ever could
FOOKIN SHITE
i quite like the lps they did from rubber soul afterwards , especially 'magical mystery tour' and the gun album
before that they're a decent pop group but way way overrated (like a lot of 60s groups)
It's a mix up of their 67 material someone on Sup Forums made
I like them. Revolver is in my opinion the best Record from the Beatles. But Ringo Starr is the worst. They all were not the best musicians when it came to playing instruments, but Ringo Starr was the fucking worst
Ringo was a good drummer you dickhead
He was send litteraly sent out of the studio to get a fuckin pie because he could'nt hold a steady beat
Ringo was lowkey the best musician of the four.
Within You Without You was a top 3 song on Sgt Pepper. That being said, Sandy Bull could Indian influence George under the table.
Why?
those are some pretty garbage opinions, Help! easily has their worst songs on it.
>it's only love
I dig it, first found it in the used vinyl section of a TCG shop as a kid.
goddamn, back to algebra 1A
best soul band ever
The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.
They are fantastic and one of my favorite bands ever.
The Beatles are GOAT!
End of discussion.
End of thread.
BUT YOU SHOULD SEE POLYTHENE PAM
You should get Denny Laine's album Japanese Tears. Has songs with Paul and Linda on it.
The conscientious of Sup Forums is Ringo is the cutest, George has the best solo, McCartney died back in 1966 and was replaced by a clone and John beats his yellow meat.
blatant disregard for day in the life
Will do
people who unironically say they're overrated actually just have no idea what they're talking about. they need to educate themselves on how important they were.
IM LOOKING THROUGH YOU AND WAIT AND DONT FORGET IN MY LIFE ESPECIALLY THAT ONE
yes a lot of praise for Let It Be and Abbey Road but neither of those even make my top 5. not that i think they are bad...
fake quote btw
You can literally go watch the film
good but overrated
The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how great they are.
This.
Very great, and one of the few bands which deserve their status.
post the source then.
SO
MANY
BOOKS
STILL NAME MY DICK
What is the Road to Rishikesh album?
agreed
abbey road is not good by beatles standards.
Bootleg album I made out of White Album sessions/Esher Demos about their India trip
They are, in all fairness, the greatest band to ever exist. We will never see a musical act of their caliber again.
can we all agree that the Beatles Anthology is kino?
Nothing worthwhile in music was ever producked before 1980. It was all novel, trial and error bull shit. The fuckwads who worship the beatles just wanted to get bareback railed by those twats and never could
Still don't like em
Georges Indian shit is all that distinguished them from the Monkees
thats like...your opinion maaaaaan
>if you're a young girl or don't actually like music
I like pretty much everything from Rubber Soul on, I do like some of their early stuff but not as much.
Abbey Road is actually their best it's up their with Revolver and the White Album on the god tier
