Languages Opportunities Growing Up

Just curious what language opportunities people in other countries had growing up and if people actually used the languages they learned. My German is shitty and my Spanish is nonexistent but that's because I never have to use them.

United States
Spanish, French, Chinese, Latin
Spanish

My Spanish is good because I got into Mexican culture in an effort to keep it alive. My 4 years of Spanish mostly is used to meme on hispachan now. (where they are quite rude to me because of my American flag :( )

US

School 1
Spanish, French, online chinese, online german
School 2 Spanish, French, German

I took French classes and mostly Dutch on duolingo. I played video games in French, and was able to use a TV from quebec that was set up in french.
Never really needed to use either aside from shitposting because nearly everything/everyone already uses English
I probably could've used spanish a lot, but fuck that

What do you have against non-germanic languages?

Ecuador
English was mandatory. There was a french course in my high school on the afternoons after class, which was short lived and i didn't learn shit.
I'm getting a degree in language teaching and translating, and it includes french too.

no one uses spanish or french here so it's pointless
