What are your guys' thoughts on SZA? I don't see as many threads about her, despite her being one of the best R&B artists today. I don't want to bring up toxic masculinity, but I'm not sure what's really going on here.
What am I missing?

decent
its music for girls tho
When do you see Sup Forums ever talk about R&B?
Music for thots
She's pretty
I see daily Frank Ocean threads.
i mean like i guess i would have sex with her. i guess?
this. No wonder my ex loved her.
>side-chick glorifying anthem
This is why society is decaying.
>I don't want to bring up toxic masculinity, but I'm not sure what's really going on here.
Good thread
He's very much an exception though, plus he was in a borderline Sup Forumscore hip hop collective
Well, Frank Ocean is garbage, so of course Sup Forums would like him.
This. SZA > Frank Ocean.
I think a lot of white men don't really notice the symbolism in SZA's work. She's not JUST talking about being a "side girl"; it's a metaphor, to a large extent, for the African American heritage of being slaves and servants and maids; ALL of African American women were, in effect, "side girls".
really makes me think
Pretty much this.
Regardless, the music is pretty good and I genuinely enjoy it.. There’s some good R&B out there.
There are quite a few female R&B and rap artists who don't get enough attention on Sup Forums. I personally like a few others better than SZA: Kelela, Rapsody, Miguel, Syd. But yeah, I'm guessing it's probably related to the general animosity on Sup Forums towards female artists.
lol bullshit. She just braggin on being some hoe ass chad's side thot.
You don't understand symbolism. I bet you thought the Old Man and the Sea was actually about a fish.
cause it WAS about a motherfuckin fish.
We comparing SZA with Hemmingway now? How many tide pods did you eat before making this post.
SZA is arguably better than Hemingway in her field, because Hemingway had several flops while SZA produces hit after hit after hit.
Also the Old Man and the Sea was about the rebirth of humanity through the purging of its sin. Have you even read ANY literary analysis?
I can weirdly enough actually kind of see how SZA is like Hemingway. I'd call both of them minimalists, so it kind of fits.
