I feel like I try to find common themes or storylines in albums that clearly aren't concept albums. Anyone else do this?

ye
makes it more fun, and I feel like a lot of artists intentionally put small vague connections in otherwise disconnected songs in the hopes that people will do this
I have one, it's called Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane. It's an album about their childhood, I even use alternate takes in some songs and a couple of Beatles lost instrumentals as segways, check it out: mega.nz
No, I don't.
For this album I pretend that all of the growling is some Nazgul-type monster that is the villain of the "story"
I can't even find these things in concept albums.
Op here, some examples of mine is singles going steady and Combat Rock. I see Singles Going Steady by Buzzcocks as a concept album about a guy torn between love and being mega horny. I see combat rock as a concept album about conflict and war in general, besides Shoud I Stay Or Should I Go
That's what you ahould be doing what the fuck. Anyone who doesn't is a fucking retard.
the common theme is the production
Sometimes I imagine it's a band that is a collection of people and they make some songs in a room and that is what they do and that is the concept .
Yep
I have an internal story regarding pic related
In my head it's about a boy being called by underwater pirates to defeat a sea monster, abandoning his love to do so but ultimately meeting defeat
lmao
no fucking way. i have the same story in my head with this. i imagine him also sneaking under the ship’s deck and hearing some of the chanties, getting advice from the golden eel and dying but being saved by ocean man.
Pretty much where I'm at
I imagine the entire thing as a "play within a play" a la Björk's Bachelorette video or something, with the first track and final reprise serving as the curtains
definitely. i always wanted this to become an animated hour long psychedelic animated movie or pirates of the caribbean type blockbuster
>hour long psychedelic animated movie
This a great idea. I know for a fact that The Mollusk is Dean's favorite Ween album, he would be on board with it.

Here's a good article written by Deaner about the creation and reception of The Mollusk, interesting read.
We just need Terry Gilliam to direct
I feel like that would be the perfect man for the job
Yes but I look into the song structure rather than lyrical themes.
Is Spiderland a concept album? In my head it is but I've heard anons insist that the songs have nothing to do with each other.
On the other hand, unpopular opinion, I don't think The Glow Pt. 2 is a concept album, but I do think the whole trilogy of albums have a sort of thematic progression between them.
I don't understand exactly what a concept album is, I thought it was just an album with a narrative, but is it just any cohesive album?
It is to OP and the other specials ITT, yes.
Appreciate this, user, it was a really interesting read
Example?
