Does anyone have a summary of capeshit worth watching and capeshit worth skipping?
I only want to watch the ones that were good and I'm looking for decent summaries of the ones that are not worth watching. I'm not a Sup Forumsck so I pretty much have no idea.
I've seen all the movies in the first "phase" up to Avengers 1 as well as Iron Man 3.
My opinions are gonna get flamed down but whatever.
Worth Watching : > Winter Soldier Typical thriller movie. Kinda like Mission Impossible but with superheroes. The fights are pretty cool. > Guardians of the Galaxy Space Adventure movie a la SW but with more humour, if that's your thing. Characters are actually likeable and all around legitimately fun. Probably my favourite movie. > Deadpool Got nothing to say about it. It's good. The perfect normie movie that you can watch with a few friends. > Days of Future Past Personally didn't like it but people seems to love it for some reason so you might want to check it out.
Not Worth Watching : > Every MCU movie you haven't seen and that I didn't mention They're either the typical Marvel movie (play it safe with a few jokes) or just boring. Altough Civil War is fine and should be watched simply if you're invested enough in the universe. > Every X-Men movie that isn't X1, X2, The Wolverine, First Class and the ones mentioned above. They're trash. > The DCEU :-)

>[1978] Superman >[1980] Superman II Both perhaps a little camp by todays standards, but they are still very fun movies >[1989] Batman May seem like a step back if you've seen the Nolan trilogy, but it beautifully paints Gotham City as something foreboding and uncanny. >[1990] Darkman Directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man and Evil Dead trilogies) and contains some very nice cinematography and character development through isolation. >[1991] The Rocketeer Very well-rounded movie which should set the standard for capefun. >[1992] Batman Returns More of Batman 1989, except it's more politically orientated. >[2000] X-Men A little corny in comparison to the later films, but still a good movie. >[2002] Spider-Man Great characters and performances, great action. It's just got everything. >[2003] X2: X-Men United Took the first X-Men movie and delved deeper into the characters and the struggles that they face. >[2003] Hulk Not one that I enjoy, but the great concepts do shine through at points. A little bit too slow and long. >[2004] Spider-Man 2 I'd argue the greatest superhero movie ever made. Adds so much onto the arc of Peter Parker and has such compelling villains. >[2005] Batman Begins Great take on Batman. Of the Dark Knight trilogy, it's the only one with an interesting Batman. >[2008] Iron Man Very good movie. Suffers a little near the end, though. >[2008] The Dark Knight Phenomenal performance by Heath Ledger with many thrills. >[2009] Watchmen Some love it, some hate it. Watch the Director's Cut and see for yourself. >[2010] Super Basically Kick-Ass if it were actually clever. >[2011] X-Men: First Class Style can be a bit jarring after seeing the previous X-Men movies, but it's a great movie with astoundingly great character development. >[2012] The Dark Knight Rises The plane scene.
Grayson Clark
Cont'd >[2013] Iron Man 3 Ignore the comic book fanboys who couldn't stand the Mandarin twist. It works in the movie. >[2013] Man of Steel An interesting take on Superman as an alien. Suffers a lot in the character arc section, though. Best of the DCEU in my opinion. >[2013] The Wolverine The last 10 minutes is a bit of a let-down, but besides that it's a brilliant movie. >[2014] Captain America: The Winter Soldier The only Marvel movie to get itself away from the quips and it shows how great their movies can truly be. >[2014] X-Men: Days of Future Past All-around brilliant movie. >[2014] Guardians of the Galaxy Modern-age capefun.
I haven't seen any of the following, but I've heard only good about them (except for Blade and Blade II, which get mixed reactions). >[1994] The Crow >[1998] Blade >[2002] Blade II >[2004] Hellboy >[2008] Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Skip any with "marvel" in the name and just watch Batman vs Superman on repeat all day.

Am I the only one who dislikes new x-men films (first class and dofp)?

I honestly, actually, unironically dont see the hype over Batman 1989. Like i don't see why millions of people jizz everytime it's mentioned.

>capeshit worth watching Pretty much all of the Marvel flicks are 5/10s at the lowest.
Birdman The first Sin City 300 The Batman films - even in the original films, things got so bad they were amusingly so Spiderman 2 (didn't age gracefully but still a staple) The ORIGINAL animated Superman cartoons made back in the 40s (these guys invented rotoscope) The Incredibles Kickass 1&2 Ghostbusters The Watchmen if you're bored, it didn't exactly translate well off the comics onto the screen Deadpool Hellboy 1 & 2 Pacific Rim Blade 1 & 2 The Rocketeer Hancock if you don't hate Will Smith The Crow Unbreakable Sky High was actually really fun Depending on what you refer to as capeshit, you also may branch out into a bit of sci-fi stuff. The first two Superman films were great. Constantine was a pretty neat transition from the Hellblazer comics to the screen, actually really fun to watch.

>movies to skip Oh, man. That depends on what you are looking for. Marvel movies you can skip - Thor, First Avenger, Civil War (just brush up on the spoilers), Hulk 1 - arguably 2 if you don't like dumb action crap - Iron Man 3, arguably Iron Man 2. Ang Lee's Hulk (Hulk 1) had some interesting art direction and cinematography, but the story and action were both pretty lacking.
DC films - the DC films are not for everyone. They are meant only for people who want to go a bit deeper into the connotations of superheroes being real in a world like ours. If you are trying to just watch superheroes be superheroes, don't watch any of them. You can avoid Suicide Squad completely either way, it was a pretty horrible spinoff and pretty much nobody except The Wall, Deadshot, and El Diablo had decent direction.
Don't watch Blade 3.
Don't watch Ghostbusters 2 or the new one.
The X-Men movies did NOT age well at all. X1 and X2 are fun to watch if you have never seen them before, because it gives you a glimpse into how people were experimenting with early cape flicks, but almost every other X-Men film is pretty trashy. First Class isn't perfect but it's good fun. Days of Future Past has some interesting moments but ultimately falls flat. Don't watch the others. Logan looks like it'll be good.
Levi Cooper
Expanding upon my DON'T WANT list:
Don't watch 300 2 or Sin City 2.
You can skip The Spirit.
Also, I can't believe I forgot this, but if you have not seen The Mask, watch it. It's more based on Tex Avery cartoons but it is about a guy who puts on a mask and does heroic things so I'm not sure if it qualifies as superhero/cape.
Also: Watch the Highlander movies. Start with the original and work from there.
Also kind of capeshit that I found fun to watch, albeit a dumb film overall - the new Speed Racer movie was pretty much a cape flick. It wasn't really removed from the source, but at the end of the day, Speed Racer was always just a mask away from being about a racecar-driving masked detective and his struggles.
