The 6+5 rule was a proposition for an association football rule adopted by FIFA during a meeting in May 2008. The idea was abandoned in June 2010.
> At the beginning of each match, each club must field at least six players eligible to play for the national team of the country of the club. There is no restriction, however, on the number of non-eligible players under contract with the club, nor on substitutes to avoid non-sportive constraints on the coaches (potentially 3+8 at the end of a match).
I actually think it was a good idea.
John Clark
>potentially 3+8 at the end of a match wow, such revolutionary idea
Brody Hughes
Rip Premier League
Nathaniel Peterson
>The idea was abandoned in June 2010. The idea would harm to the largest league like the spanish and English. No Wonder they abandom it.
Juan Cooper
>Barcelona lobbies for a rule that would immediately disqualify real madrid and every champions league opponent and only benefit Barcelona
Really makes you think
Thomas Perry
The smaller leagues like the Croatian would benefited. All our best players are being sold to foreign clubs when they have the opportunity.
James Gutierrez
>take two years to realize retarded idea is retarded
Caleb Fisher
i like the intention of the idea though
maybe just lower it to 3+8
mourinho would get btfo at least
Matthew Rogers
Bring back the 3 foreigners rule
Oliver Evans
Spanish teams have actually near 5 spaniards in their starting XI The Premier league would be devastated by the 6-5 rule though
Justin Russell
most spanish teams have plenty of nationals
Jaxson Clark
It's a good idea until you realise all the best players from their countries would get bought up by the top teams and the quality would just descend from there, you'd have League One level players at the bottom of the table. If we just say there's 20 teams in a league for argument's sake, there needs to be 120 players from that country that are good enough to start.
Cameron Rivera
>rule that encourages nationalism
Uhhhhhh no,sweetie!!!
Luis Garcia
The last thing I want is to watch more shit British players.
Matthew Murphy
7+11 for the matchday squad would be better.
Then English teams can just stick the shit homegrown players on the bench while still filling the quota.
Connor Wright
>6+5 rule >Manager and captain must always be native >Ban foreign kids from the youth academies >Emphasise a single particular national style of play (eg. Italy's defence, Spain's tiki taka, etc) at all levels of coaching >Bring back stadium standing >Cap ticket prices
Oops looks like I just fixed English football
Brandon Martinez
With such rules Andy Carroll would be worth 100 million€
Chase Mitchell
> Literally unaffected
Thomas Thompson
Also give 3 extra points to the team with the best fans.
Luis Morales
>Emphasise a single particular national style of play (eg. Italy's defence, Spain's tiki taka, etc) at all levels of coaching So in England's case that would be hoofball?
John Rodriguez
>You can't have any foreigners in your country if you just give every single immigrant a French passport at the border
Kayden Ward
Chelsea would be fuckedddd
Jayden Gonzalez
Terrible idea. The level of club football would drop tenfold.
Thomas Thompson
Sure, why not. Other countries focus a lot on technique, but why can't we focus on physique? It's what we're good at. A bunch of hard-hitting speedy brutes would be more entertaining than what we currently have (weaklings with mediocre technique).
Michael Rogers
And?
Remember when NT were like all stars teams? Now any decent club team playing the CL could destroy literally any WC contender.
Angel Foster
Not really.
Hudson Watson
Have you ever bothered to watch old games from the 1970s and 1980s? The crappy technique made the games genuinely exciting. It was end-to-end hectic stuff. None of this boring sideways passing "cultured" football.
