Drift 2013. A surf movie thats great, it also has mazikeen from lucifer in it. I highly recommend watching it.

You can't stop the murders

candy

we don't make good films. piss off cunt.

Obligatory Mad Max

You can probably skip the 3rd one though.

Shine
Mary and Max
Animal Kingdom

>Australian
>good

not a movie but just about the only good thing to come out of Australia this century.

Only the first one was ever good.

Beautiful Kate

The Proposition

Snowtown

While it was a well made movie overall, it relies too much on the shock value of muh rape and animal abuse

Fair criticism, still worth a watch.

Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan

...

>incest
Truly kino

As tru blu as throwing a shrimp on the bunnings bbq whilst listening to the top 100 on Invasion Day and cheering on David Warner as he wins the AFL grand slam

Walkabout is top tier.
Wake In Fright.

The Dish is primo auskino, also max comfy in a 1960s period way.

>Road Warrior
>Not good
What a pleb

I don't even know why i made this, i havent used it since that episode aired.

>Someone makes a thread to attract Australians
>The rest of Sup Forums significantly improves for a while

hmmmmmmmm

Breaker Morant
Picnic at Hanging Rock
The Year of Living Dangerously

>Implying any Aussies give a shit about our own movies

>Only the first one was ever good.
That is some shit taste you have there.

Road Warrior was ace.

Why is the Australian Film industry so shit bros? Why do we get stuff like Thor 3 and Pirates 5 but no Australian written / directed films anymore?

Running on Empty is a good 80s film.
Mad Max 1 & 2

Underbelly is a tv series but still good.

2 > 4 > 1 >>>>>>>>>>>> 3

Beyond Thunderdome is mostly a turd

Wicked poster m8

Jack Irish
Animal Kingdom
Danger 5 (tv series but whatever)

>no one's said gallipoli yet

On my watchlist.

My grizzled horror friend and I did a triple feature one day. First up was A Serbian Film, not much of a reaction; then Snowtown, and we were cringing in shock left and right. Amazing film. Third was Zombi 2 on the big screen, in case you were wondering.

Amen. I'm always shilling it, and you are the only other person I've seen mention it here.

Some co-productions on the list, but you get the idea.

Anyone see The Dressmaker with Kate Winslet?

I thought it was pretty kino. Don't let the subject matter dissuade you

Because it's one of the best reaction images

they asked for good movies

Ned (2003)

Hard to find online

Probably even harder to find in stores

It's a weird take on Ned Kelly and his gang

Fuckin' dumb
but fuckin' fun

youtube.com/watch?v=Yp0kwouv6oU

AYYYYYY

beaut movie mate

brilliant

youtube.com/watch?v=QmK_c2--PfI

this and a few other works of Abes were on the extras part of the NED dvd I used to have

Always cracked me up when the guy playing Neo get's his leg corked (21:13 in your video)

Walkabout
The Road Warrior

Animal Kingdom and The Rover
The Proposition
They're a Weird Mob
Priscilla Queen of the Desert
Gallipoli
The Castle

Mostly because there aren't a lot of Australian studios that fund their own projects. Those that do tend to be po-faced arthouse shit that no one actually watches, creating this cycle of dependence of government arts funding and more dreary films about lgbt aborigines or whatever

The proper ranking of the Mad Max films.

TRW>MMFR>1st half of MMBT>MM>2nd half of MMBT

Honestly I think the only way out of the doldrums is a new movement of low-budget independent films that can be produced without a great deal of studio involvement, which seems like it would be relatively easy given the plethora of distribution options available to the average person.

uhhhh

is this some kinda trick

>babe
>6.4

How? Babe is a flawless movie, required viewing for all children.

>Gallipoli
excellent choice m8

Past three Aussie films I've seen have been pretty good:

Shine
Wake In Fright
Mystery Road

Mad Max 3 is a solid 7, totally worth watching

Just walk away

Must admit it does have its moments, it could have been a lot better, I think the only issue it really suffers from is being "Mad Max - Family Friendly Edition".

Not unwatchable though, always loved Max clearing the path at the end for the plane to have enough room to take off, and the shots of Sydney in ruins were nice.

My Math teacher was a close friend of Yahoo's (from Newcastle). We watched these in class too - nothing to do with math though. My teacher was an extra in three of Serious' movies.

I think it's the PG rating, really. One of the things that makes Mad Max and especially The Road Warrior great is the low budget, grim brutality about them. Thunderdome felt too much like a squeaky clean Hollywood replica, although the parts in Bartertown before it goes all Lord of the Flies are pretty good.

can't believe these weren't posted yet

>Romper Stomper for aus/pol/

The neo-nazis/wannabes at my school kept passing around a tape of that and talking about how great it was etc. I didn't watch it for years because of that, thinking it was some weird neonazi propaganda movie that had gotten mainstream attention.

Bliss
The Cars That Ate Paris
Razorback
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Dead End Drive-In

I have a gift card for Event :3

The OST alone makes it kino

>Picnic at Hanging Rock
Shit book, shit film, I don't care how much you want to fuck 19th century school girls

...

>Wake In Fright.
>Animal Kingdom and The Rover
>The Cars That Ate Paris
>Picnic at Hanging Rock
>Snowtown

These are all superb films with Wake in Fright being the best.
