Basically, Disney needs to die.

It wasn't always like this.

It wasn't always like this.

>Is anyone forcing you watch them?
>How does the gross of these movies affect you in any important way?
>Does the fact that these movies gross hundreds of millions somehow make you unable to watch and appreciate lower budget movies?

You need to really sit down and think your priorities if you're wondering why these movies are making a lot of money. 10 of them are kid films that will get money from kids and parents. You're complaining about movies that makes families go out on a weekend. Didn't your family ever take you out to go see a movie?

The other 5 were events. Things like Deadpool, and Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad. The Mermaid which had most of its gross in China were the movie is from.

It doesn't matter what movies are at the top. You're still getting your indie movies, your oscarbait, your low budget thrillers.

Damn. Cinema's fucking dying right in front of our eyes.

>It doesn't matter what movies are at the top. You're still getting your indie movies, your oscarbait, your low budget thrillers.
No you're not. The mid-budget film has all but nearly been eradicated. All the talent is being kicked out of the industry and those that remain face stifling from producers.

We are LITERALLY seeing a marginalization of cinema, the once great American artform.

And look HERE you fucking tard. You can barely get a regular fucking movie with humans talking nowadays without it having to be a genre high-concept picture, capeshit, sequel, or talking animals. There are literally NO movies for adults now, and the only few are relegated to TWO months out of the year.

Why would hollywood pander to someone that can not even buy an IOS device that can run ios 10?

The worst part is that none of them are even remotely forgettable. Especially after one catch phrase which appears in each film they drill into you during the adverts but after the fad has died off you instantly forget it.

It's been dead since 2007

>mostly westerns

Westerns were the capeshit of back then

The Disney movies are very guilty of that. And that's due to them focus-testing the fuck out of their movies and making sure they come as inoffensive and bland as possible for mass-market penetration.

Even the highest grossing films of 1997 were much better

Cinema now is just milking the 80s/90s nostalgia for manchildren

>desertshit is somehow better than capeshit
Try again

There's only one western there, True Grit. The rest of the top grossing are literal hippie kino.

You don't see a single animated or kid movie there. You know why? Because before the 80's cinema was primarily for adults.

Also westerns are not capeshit. They're one of the most kino genre's that deals with real moral and political issues at a ground level

Even capeshits were good back in the days before Disney arrived and ruined it all with their death of the auteur.

>Also westerns are not capeshit. They're one of the most kino genre's that deals with real moral and political issues at a ground level

No they aren't they were catered to 12 year old boys who get a hard on for violence and manchildren who grew up watching Gunsmoke and shit like that. Capeshit is the same way.

>Once Upon a Time in the West isn't a western
Woah...

You're a buffoon. A majority of the greatest films are westerns.

The Big Country, The Searchers, How The West Was Won, Shane, High Noon, The Ox-Bow Incident, Ride Lonesome, The Big Trail

The Big Country was even shown at The White House because of its parallels with the Cold War

Why that year?

Every single one of these is shit

I was talking the top 10.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Midnight Cowboy, Easy Rider, Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice, Cactus Flower, Goodbye, Columbus, On Her Majesty's Secret Service are not westerns. The majority of the rest of those aren't. Out of 27 pictures there, only 3 are westerns, and Once Upon a Time in the West was the 27th highest grossing, not even in the top 10

>How does the gross of these movies affect you in any important way?

ask the video game industry

Hi, newfaggot! :D

>The Big Country was even shown at The White House because of its parallels with the Cold War
People will say the same shit about capeshit in 20 years about and make parallels about being global citizens to protect the planet from global warming, capitalism or blah blah blah.

Either way they were for children just like James Bond movies.

Oh wow how different.

No you're fundamentally wrong on the basis of what cinema is which is the exposition and impression of reality. Flying men in tights aren't real, they're fairy tales. Read Andre Bazin, pleb.
