I really like those noise feedbacky things like the second one, do you know anymore of these?

thanks for all the links
i'll lend an ear later

Just ordered Merzbient. It's half off right now, so if you wanna pay $175 instead of $350+, snag that.

That's a pretty solid deal but man I can't justify getting it.

That's fair, I just know I'm never going to see it for a better price, let alone new. Worst case scenario I sell it at a markup later.

The Noisembryo 2LP is out as well.
Lots of good Merzbow reissues lately. Pornoise especially.

My gf got me the Pornoise set for my birthday, it was a great gift.

Mid-to-late 80s Merzbow is pretty hard to beat.
And that girl's a serious keeper.

and mine just buys me
totebags

I still would suffer for her
a bit

Love it one of my fave style's of music. With Ambient, Drone being close seconds. Been buying & downloading allot stuff by The Rita's side stuff like BT. HN.

>noise music

literally how can you even call it music

Sam has done a lot of great stuff over a lot of projects. His record labels are excellent as well.
This LP is fucking tight if you haven't heard it. Collaboration between him, Jon Borges of Pedestrian Deposit and G. Ashworth of Oscillating Innards.

Question 1. What are some good places to discuss noise and related genres? Noiseguide, maniacsonly, specialinterests, stench - all seem pretty dead.

Question 2. Should I post some self-made noise ITT?

Meanwhile, please enjoy this classic Death Industrial piece

>What are some good places to discuss noise and related genres?
I would like to know this too, every so often we'll get a good thread on here but they're usually shit and like you said everywhere else is a ghost town
>Should I post some self-made noise ITT?
Might as well

Are there any cheap-ish pedals you guys would recommend for noise? I have a Behringer delay and ultra metal, looking at the Behringer fuzz, anyone here used it? Supposed to be pretty decent for doom and noise.

Not bad, a bit less muddy production would probably help and I'd also suggest maybe trying to make more dynamic tracks, unless you're going for more of a drone/HNW kind of thing in which case I'd suggest extending the length of the tracks to allow the listener to get absorbed in the sound
I haven't used the Behringer fuzz but I've got a cheap Joyo octave fuzz that works pretty well for noise since it's extremely high gain, the EHX Metal Muff is good too but that one's a little pricy. A couple distortions/fuzzes and a delay should be more than enough to start off with provided you've got some contact mics and various sound sources

First part was meant for

Buy used shit off ebay and craigslist. If you're patient, you can get stuff dirt cheap.

For fuzz I'd recommend cheap clones of zvex pedals. For distortion, DOD (or Digitech) Death Metal everybody in noise uses them for a reason. Metal Zone will do as well.

Behringer VD400 bucket brigade delay is pretty good too, worth getting if that's not the one you already own, BBDs are great for noisemaking because the are capable of nasty self-oscillation.

Another option is to get a cheap multi FX pedal, pretty much any will do, I have two, Zoom 707II and Korg AX3G. Those things get you options that would be too expensive as separate pedals, such as ring mod, pitch shifter, looper, wah, and more. Pitch shifters in a feedpack loop are awesome.

Moreover, look into cheap old rackmount FX units (Alesis, Lexicon, TC Electronic, Digitech, Zoom), they usually cost less than pedals and sound cooler, but this comes at a price of less portability and generally worse ergonomics.

Finally, Korg Monotrons. They can act as external signal processors and pack a super wild MS20 resonant filter (that's the thing responsible for Power Electronics as a genre).

Thanks for the feedback! Its actually really useful. Lack of proper development and excess muddines bother me as well. Alas, I'm the shittiest sound engineer ever, so I have no idea how to address the latter. Maybe, once I deal with track structure, I'll just go to Fiverr and have a Grammy Nominated Engineer master my shit for $10 a pop using True Vintage Analog High End Outboard Gear, kek.

The stuff that I already have is pretty much enough even without the fuzz, but I'm lookimg for some more stuff to make the sound more interesting.

I'm European, so eBay is pretty much a no, unless I get some really good deal on UK one or some shit. DODs cost white a bit here, I'm holding up to get those. VD400 is the one I have yeah, cheap but great. I'll look into the multi FXs.

I have a Monotron Delay, but didn't play with it too much yet, I was trying to finish my first demo first. Only did some experimentation with the delay module. Anything interesting about them that I should know or try?

British Ebay is not the worst, I saw some pretty good deals there.

>Anything interesting about them that I should know or try?

Try this!

In that case either a multifx like the other guy said or maybe some cheap modulation effects would probably serve you well, I tend to like a flanger in particular

been listening to a lot of the new blockaders as of lately and hastings.

Nice to see /noise/ is gaining some more traction lately.

i hate this board

Now the real question here is this; would anyone be interested in appearing on a noise compilation album?

'tis nice, indeed.

Yes.

we have a facebook group endint with /groups/noisekills (Sup Forums refuses to let me post the url; spam and what not) we use to release comps here under the name INIM and I am attempting to get that ball rolling. Join up and tell any of your noise making buddies. I'll be posting more info on what we are looking for soon

What are the politics? Are you the progressive postcolonial genderqueer intersectional *noisicians* or satanic neonazi necropaedophiliac edgelords? Asking for a friend, obviously.

We don't drag politics into it. All we ask is don't be a raging asshole and that is about it

>progressive postcolonial genderqueer intersectional *noisicians* or satanic neonazi necropaedophiliac edgelords
Sums up the entire noise scene pretty well unfortunately

I prefer to imagine it as an infinite spectrum between noisicians and edgelords.

Except there's barely anyone in the middle of the spectrum

Listen, I may be an edgelord but I do try to contain my tism.

Merzbow?

one artist does not negate that statement

A Line 6 Echopark might be the most useful pedal you could buy on a budget.

>Doesn't like noise
>Posts in /noise/ just to say noise is bad
Okay
