"one ticket, please"

>"one ticket, please"

>go to the cinema
>go tot he concession stand
>order popcorn, drink and some chocolate
>pay the cashier and take my snacks
>go to shake his hand
>he doesn't shake back
>walk away humiliated

>"here you go, enjoy the show"

I've unironically never been to a movie by myself. How is it?

>read the sign pls...

Fine. There's, at worst, thirty seconds of mild awkwardness when you buy the ticket, and then you just sit in a dark room and watch the movie and no one cares.

Usually its pretty good, because then I can go any time I'm free, so usually I'll see a movie at the latest showing or the earliest, when there's no kids and no boomers

the hometown theater in my small town is dying so I actually was the only person in the theater when I went to see Star Trek Beyond earlier this year

I like it better

It's pretty good except the mothers that pull their children in close when you walk past and the way girls pull their sweaters closed

>awkwardness when you buy the ticket
I always just think they assume you are meeting someone inside

Probably depends where you live but I've never had any problems. I usually go during the middle of a week day to avoid crowds. Sometimes they let me sit where ever I want its pretty cool.

When you're not being sprayed by fire hoses and having German Shepherds biting your ass, it's pretty chill.

user....they know

I watched TDK alone by myself at a smaller screen with just one couple behind me that made out during the entire movie.

>walk in to cinema with friends to see latest Harold and Kumar christmas film
>chick 2 years younger than me at the cash register asks me for id
>I was 21 at the time and stoned out of my mind
>no other people in my friend group got id'd that night
I was pretty mad but too stoned to raise a fuss

Really they always put me in a tiny cubicle like room made of bullet proof glass.

Was getting caught part of their plan?

they never seem to be paying much attention at my theater

>tfw I'm going to eat my ex-gf out just so she'll go see Moana with me

I wanna die

hopefully she's not too yeasty

user they're just being polite. You most likely scare them

Well it helps that I'm a regular at my my theater so they know me. I'm friendly with some of the staff there. They give me discounts on food and drink as well.

>hey susan, that special eds kid with learning disabilities just walked in, isn't he a cute little fella the poor guy
>"No this retard drool'd and cried all over the seats last time make sure you don't give him the premium seats"
>You're horrible susan, He can sit wherever he wants :^)

Literally name 50 movies.

>He has a sexual relationship with his ex-gf
Why?

dumb frogposter

She is. She always is. I need movie-going buddies. Don't like going alone.

So I don't have to go to movies alone, obviously

>Don't like going alone
I love it, I pretend I'm the taxi driver

>2017
>not using the kiosks to pay
>wanting to wait in line with other Luddite plebs and interacting with underpaid teenagers, I mean the "esteemed staff of your local kinographique experience."

When I worked at a theater concession stand, once a regular, trenchcoat single-ticket fedoralord tipped me one whole dollar.

I'll always remember that.

just saw silence by myself Thursday

i would prefer it that way for that type of movie

i don't want to discuss it

i don't want to share the experience

it was excellent btw

Hell if Starbucks asks for a dollar or the remainder of your change it isn't that bad to have them keep the change.

But yeah, total fedora move.

>i don't want to discuss it
>i don't want to share the experience

Great minds think a like user. A most ill watch a review online when I get home to see what other people thought. I don't talk about movies IRL.

Just bring a fancy looking notebook and pen and people will think you're a reviewer

>go to the cinema
>ask for one ticket
>loud sirens start going off, emergency lights are deployed from the roof
>LONER ALERT LONER ALERT LONER ALERT
>five gentlemen approach, ''sir you are gonna have to come with us''
>pass through the metal detector
>cavity search
>put into a dark room
>they ask for my social network contacts
>tell them i dont use mainstream social networks
>i have to repeteadly explain that i have no friends or GF to come with me
>put into the loner designated area inside bulletproof glass

Enjoyed the movie, it was quite comfy

enjoying yourself?

Are assigned seats a big city thing?

I tried to do this but once this pretty female cashier asked me what paper the review was going to be in and I felt very awkward and had to tell her the truth and leave.

...

there are no assigned seats

there are reserved seats or general admission first come first serve

...

I always buy my single ticket at the machine and then walk back out the front and enter the theatre through the shooters door so nobody finds out.

>he doesn't watch his keens in the VIP theatre

>pic of Apu Apustaja
>"Pepe"
dumb frogposter

...

>going to the pictures on your own

i was scared to go see a movie by myself at first. but after i did it a few times, i realized it's the best way. i just sit anywhere i want, and drink smuggled in johnny bootleggers.

being the only one in the theater for a showing is comfy as fuck too.

i was the only one in the theater for inside out. and i felt safe to cry during the short 'lava' that they aired beforehand i was high as shit so i think that had something to do with it

>the only one in the theater when you're high as fuck

literally no better way to watch movies

I like to take a huge hit right as I'm getting out of my car so that it hits me when I'm walking into the theater. I get really paranoid during the ads but slowly settle in before the movie starts. I only had it backfire once when for some reason a woman and her husband decided to sit in the seats RIGHT next to me when there were plenty of other seats available, and it completely weirded me out and killed my buzz for awhile until I just accepted the situation.

Were they full on fucking during the plane scene

christ that would have freaked me out.

idk what i would have done in that situation, possibly left the theater

I have been to the movies alone on three separate occasions, to see Casino Royale, Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters, and Rogue One. You can say I'm an expert on the subject.

In an unrelated note, each movie I saw alone was shittier than the last.

I kept thinking about changing seats but I didn't want them to feel bad. I guess they were the type of people who like social proximity, so in a way I knew I should be flattered. In the end I chalked it up to a learning experience and it actually has made me more relaxed around strangers since I know I can handle it.

Why not? I got to know and meet my girlfriend thanks to talking about movies and usng them as an excuse to delve into deep subjects with her which ended up paying off big time.

Underrated

i use the automated kiosk to minimize all human interaction, user

I often do this, what's the big deal?

If I want to see a movie I'm not gonna wait until it's suitable for a friend to be available.

>Excuse me sir, just one ticket, are you meeting your girlfriend inside?
>No, my mom

I only go by myself

I don't know anyone to go with

I can't really see that I'd enjoy it any differently with someone else, but hey, I'm a real autist

I've probably seen 100+ movies at the theater by myself over the years. Last one I saw was Silence on Tuesday. Thinking back, earliest I can remember going to the movies alone was to see Superman Returns.

It's a nice experience.

I used to do this all the time. Then I found out a lot of autists on the internet feel really insecure about it and then I started thinking about it every time and it got weird, so I stopped.

I tend to get way too high whenever I smoke in order to watch a movie and I basically forget 80% of it. I was high out of this world during my trip in Amsterdam when I tried to watch La Haine. Some friend walked in during the last scene and said "Whoa, cool movie! What is it about?" and I couldn't remember anything despite having watched it for 2 hours.

The only movie I saw by myself was Inside Out. I had no issues.

Fucking kek

the last time i seen a movie with others it was Predators in 2010

>mfw it was shit
>mfw i was a third wheel

just end it already

I've been a couple times alone. It is fine. Just don't go on a release weekend to avoid social interactions and prebuy your tickets so you can just walk straight in.

Kids movies are the worst to see on your own. I never do it. If it wasn't for the humiliation the kids themselves make it impossible to enjoy anyway

i only went to see a movie alone ONCE - Les Miserables. I knew i will cry, and i made the right decision. Also, none of my friends would have wanted to see it because "musical"

The only awkward moment was right at the end - just as the credits started the lights came on and i was still blowing my nose/wiping my eyes, but the people next to me were crying too so it was fine.

>order ticket online so I don't have to speak to anyone
>pick it up from automated machine
>trip and drop ticket and the receipts
>clerk offers to help
>"I can't find the other ticket, you didn't just get one did you? Haha imagine, who would come to the cinema alone!"

Yeah, that didn't really cross my mind when I went, but I'd definitely think twice about seeing another kids movie in theaters alone.

Especially one that has tear-jerker moments.

Massive kek

maybe thats just you user

>buying through the cashier
>not just using those machines

underrated

You guys are so fucking pathetic

I go alone all the time its great

There's a small cinema which has mostly auteur, festival and indie films, and many people sit there all by themselves, usually elders. No shame in my game.

Everyone in the theater is watching you and there's a sniper aiming at you the entire time

There's also a machine gunner behind the theater screen waiting for you to pull something out of your pocket just so he can get rid of you

Literally no one ever gave a shit about me, nor ever will

Same goes for you

Do you think anyone cares about anyone else other than themselves?

Not even your mom loves you. She only loves her own reflection in you and how you make her feel, and how you exist so she can fulfill her protector and motherhood purposes, instincts and feelings

You were born alone and will die alone. Dont ever forget this. The sooner you accept it the easier it becomes

If you cant and going out alone or giving a shit is a problem for you, than I would kindly suggest cancelling your subscription to this ride prematurely

deep stuff, user.

I literally saw Shin Godzilla by myself.
>went to casino theatre with my pre-bought ticket because I didn't want to miss out
>went and had dinner by myself, took about 30 minutes to order, eat, and get the check.
>went and bought a drink and sat down in the theatre
>nobody else came into the theatre except for the usher
>felt absolutely depressed the whole time

Movie was great but I felt like it was one of those movies where you need to see it with at least one other person to talk about it afterwards.

what's the best an hero method?

The shame of going to a movie alone is something only young people have.

>went to watch Donnie Darko towards the end of its cinema run
>was in the smallest cinema
>no one else saw the movie
>felt lonely as fuck watching a sad movie in an empty theatre

>Go to cinema to buy snacks?
>Only walk down the aisles that are empty to avoid akward walking next to people
>Unfortunatly confectionary aisle is taken, grab some biscuits and a water instead
>Go to self serve check out instead, wait until the retail girl isn't near the entrance to the self serve area so I can walk by without being spoken too
>Buy stuff then go to cinema
>Swipe my printed out ticket i got online, and make my way in
>Walk carefully so the biscuit packet doesn't make too much noise in my pocket
>All the rows in the centre have some people in them, so i just sit in the front

So much hassle, hope they make the cinema going experience easier in the future
