What he does for Jews and Israel is not dependent whatsoever on his lack of metaphysical beliefs. He is ethnically motivated (even Christopher Hitchens himself said this-- called him a great champion for Israel), and his various pseudo-sheepish apologia for Israel and his desire to put a kosher stamp on criticism of Islam is standard Jewish behavior.
Moreover, he will never lead anyone to a real investigation of origins of Abrahamic religions, because those lead right to Jews and Judaism and Jewish character as the source of the problem. He is not interested in seeking Truth: his purpose is to dismantle belief, keep it all nice and safe in a pseudo-retro-Enlightenment package, for ethnopolitcal ends.
