Not gonna lie, when I was studying abroad in Spain it seemed that way. Half the cuisine is bread and pork (no problem with that btw). Every day I ate lunch with my host family and even if we were having rice, potatoes, and beans, there was always a huge loaf of bread on the table. They said the meal wasn't complete without it.
