What is your personal "best album of all time"
Mine is pic related
What is your personal "best album of all time"
VU&N
do you actually like this?
I play saxophone, the stuff in it is fantastic but I don't see how any sane person could actually enjoy it more than Kind of Blue, Giant Steps or Out To Lunch!
unironically, although i do understand the hate for them to a point
nice
that album sucks an ur gay and ur fag an ur smelly poopoo doodoo retard
>epic kek dab
>epic kek dab
mine too
of my favorites I think this is the one that's the best i.e. not just my favorite for sentimental reasons.
That is a great album and coming from someone else who considers that his favorite album, it's not the best album of all time. There's just no way. You probably do like it for sentimental reasons or you haven't listened to that much
Something about this album just does it for me. Once I play it I can't stop until it goes to the end. I just can't find any fault with any part of it. Revolver is a great choice and a close second for me.
i rather lateralus
t. avant-teen
Sadness is the greatest Jazz composition ever recorded.
It sounds like death metal to me and I like death metal
I love when plebs admit their favorite album isn't the greatest or even lose. It's like admitting your own taste is shit.
Faggots. They aren't even all bad albums, but if they're your favorites, you need to lurk for at least another year before posting again. Take some time off.
(you)
>Denying the fact that Disintegration is the greatest album of all time
Not him, nobody's favourite anything in an entire art medium is the greatest of all time, it's a retarded argument to have when there's countless factors you have to consider and more you wouldn't even think of, it's an impossibility.
Maybe you could make an argument per genre or style but of music in its entirety? fuck off.
Compositional or pioneering quality alone also don't make up the entirety of a piece of arts value, this is where subjectivity in taste comes, objectivity only goes so far and is flawed almost entirely in trying to determine an absolute "best", it's really a pointless excercise.
That said these threads are basically for posting whatever music has had the most profound effect on you artistically or otherwise, there's no real argument for "best".
nice picks
cool argument but it's wrong, this is the best album of all time
Your right and wrong at the same time.
Revolver is maybe the album that most marked me. But it is not even my fave Beatles album right now. However i think, for its importance, innovations and quality of each song, that is the best of all time.
Yeah, i think side B is great
Actually I only replied very specifically to the plebbiest of choices, nice try though. For instance, I avoided because it's a fucking excellent choice.
That's one of Ornette's least notable albums you contrarian fuck
This
I'm speaking relatively, it's by far the best album in the thread
Good post
The fact that you replied to so many people yet didn't post your own personal "best album of all time" shows that you're contrarian as fuck
Are you having a laugh mate, it marks the introduction of his string arrangements and its the perfect synthesis between his early and later work
Here faggot, enjoy
Heh no... it's not.
>merzbow
>baby's first noise
I think you're the one that needs to spend a little more time on Sup Forums user
>noise
Wanna guess how I know you haven't listened to it?
Compared to his other albums, it's absolutely irrelevant, totally undistinguished
Things can be multiple genres user....
Stop pretending that anything deeper than Pulse Demon and Merzbeat is pleb. Mallgoths pick those because everyone knows them and it makes them seem cultured, Merzbow has no shortage of masterpieces if you go literally any deeper into his discog. Only contrarians and ultraplebs hate Merzbow, and neither of them have gotten past his top 5 albums.
this board has really turned to shit
Merzbow is contrarian the artist, you posted one of the most insignificant avant garde jazz records to prove that your taste is better than everyone elses while actually showing your total lack of knowledge in the genre.
Simply not true, it stands on the same ground as The Shape of Jazz To Come and surpasses Free Jazz to my ears, although it isn't nearly as improtant
Post a single jazz critic that agrees with you
>Merzbow is contrarian the artist
what the fuck am I reading
Do I need to teach you how to read too user? I can't spoon feed you that much
>i dont like it so its bad
how about let people like what they like
lmao, who the fuck are you?
There's few contemporary writings on all but his most obvious works, fewer comparing them, and nobody currently who is willing to tread on that ground of canonized work.
What Schlomo Nickelstein thinks of Coleman's work has no bearing on the legitimacy of my thoughts or the subject of this thread.
sure, you can like whatever you want
but it objectively sucks ass and you should stop
More like who the fuck are you? Just because some random user likes one of Ornette's lesser known albums doesn't prove it to be significant in his discography.
>please let me be a pleb
Solid picks.
This
When was I ever trying to prove anything?
You challenged it so I defended my choice and made my case as to why I think it is in as brief a fashion as possible, I don't give a shit about how many charts it appears on or its relevance in popular culture.
It was certainly an important moment in his personal life and marks a change in direction of his work, as well as being sublime music that stands among his best recordings, what else do you want me to say and do you even have anything to say on it to begin with other than weak dismissals that make you sound like a tourist?
this man is a genius and i want to suck his peen
I have only listened to pic-related, and I loved it
>best album of all time
>picks something obscure (and not the least bit notable) so that anonymous strangers think he knows about stuff
>dodging my response
lol
It's not the least bit obscure for anyone who's interested in Coleman's work
I'm not the user you were bickering with.
I'm interested in Coleman's work, and I've never come across that album. I just checked it out and it's certainly nothing to rave about.
Stop trying so hard. Also, using "lol" doesn't help your case, buddy.
lol @ this post
>people need to participate in the Sup Forums circle jerk
all the albums i pointed out in my original post are Sup Forums circle jerk garbage
the point is you should listen to more music and not have generic Sup Forumscore as your favorite album
The best punk rock album ever
This,to me,is still the greatest thing snyth-based album to ever exist. God it's so brilliant. RIP Vlada
lol, atleast not aphex twin. still just as shit
