>no emo thread?
what are some newer emo bands who are good
/Emo/
>newer emo bands
i'm sorry brother but we love a dying genre
i got bad news for you, friend
that new gulfer album was pretty good if you haven't heard it yet
i'm just starting to get into skramz, does anyone have any suggestions besides the obvious shit?
pretty much, the only good releases are spread out by years
Is American Football emo? It doesn't sound that emo to me.
Its often called midwest emo
midwest emo is best eni
emo
how newer?

Does this thread include faggy emo/ post-hardcore from the mid 2000s?
I'd like to find more bands that sound like they were from that era.
I'm also looking forward to the upcoming HH album.
Empire Empire (I was a lonely estate) is pretty good. It's a lot like American Football
UHHHH The Hoteliers are also p good
then listen to bands from that era
most of them either broke up or changed their style, so I basically have the same problem as OP. I know the genre isn't popular anymore, but after listening to same albums all over again it becomes boring.
listen to the more obscure ones then
If i wanted t0 get into /emo/ where would i start?
/emoe/ is not dead
midwest noodle bullshit is for teenage losers. real emo is cool (and for 20 and 30 year old losers)
>posts scene shit
WEW LAD
American Football l>>> American Football
depends desu. you could just start with the first wave bands like cap'n jazz, texas is the reason, american football, and maybe something like saetia if you want to dip your toes into skramz.
if you don't care about that and just want the newish sounds from emo revival bands then try algernon cadwallader, snowing, brave little abacus, merchant ships, william bonney. I'd have to go digging into my music folder for a better list but that should be plenty to get started.
entire empire empire discography is something that i will always cherish in my heart. also i seem to be always going back to mineral, jimmy eat world, hotelier, foxing etc etc but i am totally ready for the new hawthorne heights album
also sorry i forgot my second fav band that i totally recommend to everyone, The Apple Seed Cast and their albums "The end of the ring wars" and "low level owl"
I'm skeptical about listening to midwest emo like American Football and Brand New because I typically hate traditional emo. How is it different?
more suburban
does this count? it's sounds like pop punk flavored cloud
rateyourmusic.com
brand new, the world is a beautiful place and i am no longer afraid to die
thats how i got into it atleast
Pinegrove
it's usually less harsh
here's a fuckhuge chart
my personal favorite albums on this chart are What It Takes To Move Forward and Fuck Your Emotional Bullshit, although you should probably just listen to the first row to get a good idea of what each subgenre is before deciding which direction you want to delve in
>Saves the Day
>emo
???
I know Midwest is more a denomination of style than location but isn't Brand New a Long Island pop-emo group, even after their sound matured?
yes
brand new is to Long Island emo-pop as radiohead is to alternative rock
The orange thot has no place here
Their obvious shit
Sorority Noise
Have Mercy
Mom Jeans
Pinegrove
The Wonder Years
Tiny Moving Parts
Real Friends
Knuckle Puck
wut
Hey thanks to everyone who rec'd me some albums and bands to listen to.
my chemical romance
is this post implying that you thought skramz was the name of a band
Need some new stuff to listen to!
Favorite bands: The Van Pelt, Saetia, Pg. 99, On the Might of Princes, William Bonney, TWIABP, Snowing, Mom Jeans, Tiny Moving Parts, Pinegrove, Park Jefferson, Merchant Ships, Midwest Pen Pals, American Football, Cap'n Jazz, Bright Eyes, etc., etc.
Try Silverstein, they are great.
is 6 years ago new enough?
It's been almost 8 years and still NOTHING comes close to this album in terms of pure innovation and uniqueness for the emo genre. Why the fuck is it so good, bros?
>first wave bands like cap'n jazz, texas is the reason, american football, and maybe something like saetia
Those are all second wave though. First wave is 80s stuff like Rites of Spring, my man.
i mean masked dancers is better
lol
