The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.
I wouldn't do it I'd probably give most of my shit 3.5 tho lol

Hey Schumaker wherever you are where is your chart so I can put a rec on for whatever's next unless someone else is joining it.
Also Building Nothing Out of Something is amazing. What are the board's thoughts on Japan by the way (not as in the country, that'd be banal), I mean that Quiet Life has some really neat synths at the beginning and the album itself is all good, don't get why its on that post-punk flowchart but whatever I guess, I mean according to Rym anyway you'd think it'd be a subsequent release. How are you guys doing by the way? Much progress in life?
The ceiling.
Wait are you the same trips, that's cool dude, people seem to bully fish a little but I bet he has a heart of gold, or maybe Platinum since platinum is light and you could probably pick the bloke up and squeeze him.
Are you talking about my tourney? Rod beat you in that srry
Julian Ross
Oh no worries, I was worried that I was taking too long to respond given holidays and all. Hope you're doing well. Also what was his rec just so I can listen to it? You're a cool guys by the way!
Thanks to whoever mentioned Elliott smith here, Angeles is such a pretty song Lot of that is pretty essential, you're gonna have a good time whatever your taste is

This chart is like the fork in the road that determines your musical path

And here's my progress for this month, if anyone cares. The unrated ones I either haven't gotten to yet, or need another listen (but are probably either a 3 or 3.5). Reply if you're interested in my onions.
Yeah, but only once so far. I really liked the first four tracks, but the second half of the album didn't do much for me. Between that and the Aphex Twin album, I think ambient might just not be my thing. Maybe it'll grow on me after another listen or two.

Trout Mask Replica is not a fucking joke.
Brody Edwards
I think the second half of filosofem has a very specific vibe that only a small niche of people would really enjoy If you liked the first four tracks, I can get you some nice black metal recs
Samuel Rodriguez
I always appreciate recs, although I may not listen to them in a timely manner because I have a pretty large backlog.
Slow-burning and methodical ragas. Very rarely does Banerjee allow the intent of his pieces to be revealed in their opening moments, every single one takes minutes to properly get going. This is a record that takes quite a bit of patience, put the effort in and it's easily one of the most rewarding things I've ever listened to.
3.5
The Books - The Lemon of Pink (2003) >folktronica
The cutest and most effortlessly pleasant electronic album of all time. Thought for Food is pretty good, this absolutely blows it out of the water. Samples and field recordings are deftly weaved in between dense, folky, guitar-based soundscapes that have a shocking amount of emotional resonance. The vocal segments grate on me, otherwise I can't complain.
3.0
Michael Chapman - Fully Qualified Survivor (1970) >contemporary folk, singer/songwriter
Absolutely astounding folk, a massive improvement on its already stellar predecessor. Chapman takes much more influence from primitivism and chamber folk here, cutting down on the rock and amping up his beautiful, technical guitar work. Still has a few rock songs that stand as obviously lesser in the grand scheme of the album, yet the brilliance of the folk tracks balances everything out.
whytf r ppl reccing you harsh noise, here's what you need: Black Tongue Black Sheep Wall Timeless Wounds xKINGx bound in fear branca is not similar to their early stuff at all
While this compilation was slightly inconsistent, it was always enjoyable. When it hit, it was really really good (Standouts were Syryje husy, Oj zza hory, Róża, and Ściani dumbek). I don't know how the Eastern Europeans can be so consistently good at avant-folk.
I didn't think I'd ever listen to another Animal Collective album after Merriweather Post Pavilion (although I have listened to an Avey Tare and a Panda Bear album). And hey! This wasn't completely bland and commercial! It was fun. There were pleasant songs. I liked the noise parts, most of the time they didn't feel fully integrated with the pop as much as the two were just layered on top of one another.
Both good albums, but Letov gets the edge. Congrats on making the finals! Please give me an album that's any time longer than 2 hours. :)
I like doing this except then I'll have to tag all those albums later which is a slog to say the least
also south meets north is fun. It's almost blues-y at times
Noah Perry
very excited
Leo Diaz
downloading 100 albums from soulseek = i cum changing the the titles to be correct + getting album art for 90% of the albums = i uncum
Grayson Robinson
Me too! Really hoping I can find the time to listen to all three tomorrow
Yup yup yup (plus capitalizing titles, adding genres, and undoing that "01" shit for track numbers) (there's a reason I don't have Goodbye Babylon in my library. I've tried twice and have given up)
Hunter Phillips
>album is over thirty songs long >none of the tracks are capitalized I have skipped listening to albums for weeks because of this
Don't you just want to keep the music you rate highly which comes few and far between? Why sort the metadata of loads of tracks you might not even like
Parker Young
>classical piece has 40 fucking sections >none of the mp3s titles are formatted the way I want them
