Comp Sci Music

Sure, there are a ton of albums about history, anthropology, biology, environmental science, etc... but what about computer science?

>there are a ton of albums about history, anthropology, biology, environmental science, etc
i wanna hear some of these

just listen to idm nerd

closest i can think of is computerwelt by kraftwerk, but it's more about the surface aspects of computing (numbers, calculators, etc) than programming
i don't know if anyone would actually make something like that

whats some good music about biology and environmental science?

computer science? i can think of a lot that have to do with the impact of computer technology on society but not necessarily the science of computers themself. a lot of synthesis based albums could be considered studies of computers and electricity and circuits and shit, without explicitly having lyrical content about it or something.

On a semi related note - anyone here a CS major or working in CS? If so, what music do you listen to while you code?

Ok Computer

not specifically computer science related but describing emotion in a robotic way seems close enough
CS major, usually just listen to noise rock

As someone who manages engineers they listen to three things:

chillstep
rap

the senior engineers or people who can actually program listen to:

Metal

the junior engineers listen to:

garbage, literally garbage

>If so, what music do you listen to while you code?
i don't really listen to anything specific, but music I would consider aesthetically fitting:
Monoton
Asmus Tietchens
Kraftwerk
Conrad Schnitzler
Drexciya
Juan Atkins
Source Direct
Planetary Assault Systems
Robert Hood
most 90s techno in general
Ryoji Ikeda
Vladislav Delay
Shuttle358
this album is good too

Literal computer music? Peep Jean-Claude Risset's Music From Computer.
I don't listen to music while coding. Only if I am allotted a smoke break and only then, now I don't even have that since I quit.

I've also met a number of older guys who are really really into industrial, of every kind you can think of. The OG shit like Throbbing Gristle, to EBM Skinny Puppy shit, diehard Ministry or NIN fans, industrial metal dudes who love Fear Factory and Strapping Young Lad, people into shit like the Birthday Massacre, and yes also Rammstein fans. All with many years of programming experience.

And yeah, the younger ones have abysmal taste. If it's not braindead EDM or cringy meme music then it's the most irritating weebshit you've ever heard. Or nightcore. Goddammit I don't understand how anyone can like that garbage.

Bjork - Biophilia
Mort Garson - Plantasia
Best I can come up with.

I dunno about albums specifically about computer science, but I listen to
greenfly, kyodai, hnny, autechre, 808 state, asc, black dog, static substance, 4hero, wax doctor, amen andrews, luke vibert, mirage, milieu, freescha, wagon christ, aphex twin, seba, octave one etc while programming

not op but you're legitimately retarded if you don't at least know python these days

This

And falling for the comp sci meme. I guess the College Dropout would be a fitting title

t. buttblasted sociology major who now works at starbucks

that aint the point pythonfag

I listen to all my music library on shuffle

what are your qualms with the language
obviously it's not suited for all purposes but it is elegant and robust for most

ok I’ll bite, what is your point? it takes like two minutes to learn a new language and doing little exercises like this help pin down the syntax so why are you chiding learning it when it’s seeing increasing widespread use?

you sound like a sophomore who just took the intro data structures course with java, fag

Art Angels

Aphex Twin - Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments

Unironically Eurobeat, lolicore or J-pop. I need relentless shit to keep my brain focused.

Judging from the source code in OP's screenshot and their Monokai theme, they don't know Python either

iannis xenakis made a bunch of math-heavy compositions in his time. not really something you'd want to listen to in the background but more a proof of concept interlinking music and mathematics.

calm down bruh i only know python but don't get them get smug about it

>Monokai theme
only autists get hung up about trivial shit like this
a better complaint would be that he's using sublime at all
