Texit how?

Is state succession a meme or could Texas (or any state) democratically vote to leave

They can vote democratically to leave, but that doesn't mean the Federal Govt will let them

>not NYC seceding from the rest of NY AKA Albany

That's not where Denton is

The US would have to decide to allow it, which, for a variety of reasons, would not happen. There's no "Article 50" equivalent to leave like in the EU.

New York state outside the city needs the city tax revenues too much, and New York City requires water, electricity generation capacity, natural resources, infrastructure (including key financial backup server locations in case of an event in manhattan), etc...

Besides Dallas/Fort Worth Texas can leave for all I care. Worthless.

Let the City burn. NNYEXIT when?

New York City provides eleven billion dollars more to the state in tax revenue than the state gives back in turn. Secession of upstate NY will never happen for this reason.

Texas is the only state with the option to legally leave.

That's a myth

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_v._White
>Texas v. White, 74 U.S. 700 (1869) was a significant case argued before the United States Supreme Court in 1869
>In accepting original jurisdiction, the court ruled that, legally speaking, Texas had remained a United States state ever since it first joined the Union, despite its joining the Confederate States of America and its being under military rule at the time of the decision in the case. In deciding the merits of the bond issue, the court further held that the Constitution did not permit states to unilaterally secede from the United States, and that the ordinances of secession, and all the acts of the legislatures within seceding states intended to give effect to such ordinances, were "absolutely null".

Don't tell this to the "muh republic of Texas" people though, they get rabid and insist they can leave whenever they want - even though the fact that they cannot unilaterally secede from the US legally was established just short of 150 years ago.

USA would be pretty cool if it looked like this. Bridges and shit.

>Bothwell
You made my hometown the Capitol of Cascadia and you can't even spell it right.

>thinking it is remotely possible leaving with USA bases inside of you

How would Texas ever secede? Against the will of the United States?

Negative that is a fallacy.
They are able to split into five regions
New Texas and Gulfland should unite
Cluster bomb Trinity
Give El Norte back to the Wets
Give Plainland to Oklahoma
All of our problems solved

The great lakes region would erupt into civil war at the union of Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Minnesota. We are pretty much the Balkans of the USA.

Texans are convinced that as "the republic of texas" we basically left them a "get out :^)" clause where they can unilaterally secede. That doesn't actually exist.

In reality, Texas could try to unilaterally secede, but it wouldn't work very well. Mexico to the south, 1% of texans are federal government employees that would be out of a job, they depend on other states tremendously to import water and export agriculture, etc... it's not something that could happen without warning either, steps would be taken to ensure texas didn't or, in a worst case scenario, texas was contained.

Texans fly their own flag a lot but they fly the US flag a lot too. It would take a lot of tension and issues before secession was actually seriously proposed, the US could take action well before that.

If Texas did split they could well and truly triple-quadruple their senate representation

Yes. The possibility of this is probably the best lever for breaking Texas out of bondage. Talk to Democrats and ask them nicely to vote for #Texit and recognize the republic of texas, or we split into 5 texases. Carrot for democrats: get rid of texas which they hate anyway, and secure the house of representatives for the forseeable future. Stick for democrats: if they don't then they lose the senate for the forseeable future.

While Texas v White said (in a laughable bit of reasoning) that unilateral secession was impossible, it also said that bilateral separation was a-ok.

you realize Hawaii would vote for a hawexit right? it would be the closest thing to independence Hawaiians could get to being a kingdom again.

>be in Wisconsin.
>stuck between 2 nigger states and super lefty Minnesota.
>can't go with group VII.
>slowly become California mark 2.
>die in bread line during the winter.

There is no way the US could keep a rogue state in by force

States can secede from other states if the state legislature and Congress approves it, so says the Constitution.

The Constitution says jack shit about states seceding from the Union, so when the Supreme Court heard that they took advantage of it and declared that because it wasn't expressly legal, that it is illegal unless all the other states approve. (Texas v. White, 1869)

The EU and USA are not the same thing.

I'm from texas and I don't understand why people think we can secede from the union

why would we even do that anyways

ALL of these sectors have at least one shitty state attached. Do not want, it will fuck up the other states entirely.

yes, but the democratic vote would be with the other states to make an amendment to allow them to leave. a vote of just texans wouldn't be enough

If it came down to it, yes they could. I mean you've got maybe 1000 inbreds with AR15s versus an entire US Army, Air Force and Marine Corps.

New Mexico goes with Arizona - remember that next time you make a map and Arizona will never go with Texas.

Texas will never leave. You're going to stay in the union and you're going to like it.

yea that would be pretty dank

>dank

You have to go back

triggered by a mere word

haha

*teleports behind you dankly*

not so fast faggot
