Is it true there are desert in Spain?

yes. do not come here.

sort of
they're not sandy deserts AFAIK

Didn't they film Cowboy movies there?

but rocky ones with shrub vegetation

>sand deserts

no

>arid areas with almost no vegetation at all

yes

see the maroon area OP? that's the murcian desert

yeah Sergio Leone and others filmed there because it's cheaper to go from Italy to Spain than to Italy to New Mexico

I want to do a road trip in Spain

murcia is not near as desertic as almeria is
and murcia is pretty arid

>tfw deep blue

my bad, i don't know Spain political division that good
so the desert is actually in Andalusia region?

Yes. fuck off, we're north Africa.

the aswer is yes, fuck off

That map is about average annual rainfall, in that case areas of Almeria, Murcia and Alicante are arid as fuck

But in terms of vegetation and rocks looking martian, Almeria has no rival.

aaah ok
there's a mountain range stopping the cold atlantic winds and allowing the hot sahara winds, isn't there? Betic Mountains

Yes, don't come, we are literally Saudi Arabia.

There are actually two deserts in Spain, one in Aragon, and the most famous one in Almeria.

What are their names

Monegros and Tabernas

Thanks mate

Tabernas looks dope, would visit / 10

Even the red parts only look very dry during summer,at least in the western half of the peninsula
Here is a red part from Portugal during winter

>during winter
oh wow, just like home. not even rain on the pic

murcia is rightfuly american clay

what's it like living in places like this? It looks cozy but I already live in an area where I have to see and interact with my neighbors every time I step outside. Can't imagine being in an even tighter space and having to deal with people watching you all the time

It's mostly old people living in such villages nowadays

We usually say that there was a time where a squirrel was able to cross all the peninsula just jumping trees. We need to keep going with the reforestation of the country...

Barely anyone lives there except for a few old people, its pretty much just turism now.

Anyways when i was younger my grandparents were from a village like those and i used to spend summers there. Basically everyone knows everyone else, its a very tight knit community, people used to bring a chair at night and just sit with their neighbours on the street, chatting, etc.

There was also zero crime, people used to leave their doors open.
