An ascending scale by itself isn't appearing in a musical context. There are plenty of songs with ascending scales in them and you'd be hard pressed to argue that they were all bad.

I think we fundamentally like music that rides a fine line between being similar to what we already know, and new to us.
We like things that are similar to other things we already like. That's basically what genres are.
That said, I think you could potentially argue that some music is "objectively bad" if your definition of bad is repetitiveness, because I also believe that music which challenges us in some way tends to stick with us and change our perceptions in a greater way.
